Worst experience of my physics career. Often posted homework late with minimal extension. Poorly organized lectures, poor textbook, and worthless examples/hw. Tests required pointless memorization and were often unclear -- the material is easy, so it seemed that to make it difficult she required blindly memorizing 30+ lengthy eqns. Never again.

She did everything but teach us. I took this class with her F23 and I kid you not she flew out of the country every other day. Gave out the worst exams ever. Super low averages to the point she had to do an insane curve to ensure that most of the class didn't fail.

She may well be a good person and a good researcher, but she should absolutely not be teaching an undergraduate intro course of this nature. Constantly absent from lecture, when she was present her lecture style was confusing and useless compared to reading the textbook(although I still attended). Not worth skipping a qtr but avoid if possible.

This class was.... hard. Everyone stopped going to lecture because she was never there. The tests were crazy hard and felt super out of the class's depth, and she said she would curve and did not. UCSB should just let people stay researchers, some of these profs are geniuses, but are just... incapable of teaching.

Arguably, it was the hardest class I've taken at the school. She's a good person, but I don't think her teaching style helps students learn the material. The second midterm and final were very tough even though I did study quite a bit for each one. Just say a prayer if you're in one of her classes.

Jayich frequently misses class for travel. Her lectures consist of long derivations are are exceptionally hard to follow. She gives limited test resources and makes the midterms and final very difficult. Obviously an intelligent woman but she cares much more about her research than teaching undergrads. Avoid taking any lower div courses with her.

Tbh I never went to lecture, but got an A-. There is no exam review, just hw. If you're not really into physics it's probably very hard, but compared to ME14 (statics) this class is pretty easy. She responds to emails fast, and has good communication about exams. Exams were well made.

Traveling to Switzerland for some casual exam prep was quite easy. Preparing for exams was a breeze, and that final week of prep really saved me! (Covered nothing of use, might as well have slept in). Saw guest lecturers (TAs) nearly every single week! Great curves on our D- average midterm (said it would be curved, did not tell us she meant down).

Your grade is determined by two midterms and a final, the second midterm and final had terrible averages (sub 70%) and she barely curves the class. Constantly missing from class for travel and her lectures were terrible when she was there. Sad, many such cases!

Notable gpa ruiner. Avoid at all costs. Cared so little to teach the class that her attendance rate to her own lectures was spotty.

Worst Professor I have ever had. Didn't show up to class due to constant travel. Unnecessarily hard tests. Boring lectures that were hard to hear because of her refusal to use a microphone in class. Could tell she doesn't care about her students and is just at UCSB to do research.

Constantly on trips and she missed all the exam days. She didn't give us any resources to study for any of the exams yet the exams would be extremely difficult and require complicated calc 3 knowledge. Lectures were hard to follow as she only ever did derivations of formulas and never did any examples and had useless lecture slides. AVOID HER.

She was not present for 30+% of the class due to traveling. Resources for learning were pretty limited, and the midterms and final were notably difficult. Overall, this was simply not a positive class experience, doe to the combination of difficultly alongside a poor environment for learning.

Probably the worst professor I've had during my entire time at UCSB. Managed to miss over 30% of her own lectures for business trips. Average for the second midterm was a 59, but she still chose to use Week 10 to go over material irrelevant to the final. Assumed we would know things that were not covered in prior physics classes. Try to avoid her.

Midterm average was like a 59 lol and still proceeds to talk about stuff that's not on the final exam for the last week. Avoid if you don't want your gpa ruined.

She dedicated the last week to learning stuff that wont be on the final instead of mostly reviewing for it despite the 2nd midterm average being 60% with a curve

Traveled the world while we were still stuck at UCSB.

She seems to always be on a business trip, spends 99% of lecture time deriving and integrating formulas instead of actual examples and concrete information that students could be using to learn concepts and doesn't actually apply concepts. Was MIA when midterms came around, leaving her TAs to do everything. Inadequate at teaching, needs new career.

Lectures were a waste. Might as well have skipped them since she uses examples right out of the book. No explanation for grade cutoffs or information about the curve at the end of the quarter. Exams were easy enough. Some extra credit on exams & homework offered.

Garbage grading curve, got 94% that became an A- other students got up to 95% curved down to A- Lectures weren't very interesting but taught straight out of Griffiths EM so were straightforward
