She may well be a good person and a good researcher, but she should absolutely not be teaching an undergraduate intro course of this nature. Constantly absent from lecture, when she was present her lecture style was confusing and useless compared to reading the textbook(although I still attended). Not worth skipping a qtr but avoid if possible.

This class was.... hard. Everyone stopped going to lecture because she was never there. The tests were crazy hard and felt super out of the class's depth, and she said she would curve and did not. UCSB should just let people stay researchers, some of these profs are geniuses, but are just... incapable of teaching.

Arguably, it was the hardest class I've taken at the school. She's a good person, but I don't think her teaching style helps students learn the material. The second midterm and final were very tough even though I did study quite a bit for each one. Just say a prayer if you're in one of her classes.

Jayich frequently misses class for travel. Her lectures consist of long derivations are are exceptionally hard to follow. She gives limited test resources and makes the midterms and final very difficult. Obviously an intelligent woman but she cares much more about her research than teaching undergrads. Avoid taking any lower div courses with her.

Tbh I never went to lecture, but got an A-. There is no exam review, just hw. If you're not really into physics it's probably very hard, but compared to ME14 (statics) this class is pretty easy. She responds to emails fast, and has good communication about exams. Exams were well made.

Traveling to Switzerland for some casual exam prep was quite easy. Preparing for exams was a breeze, and that final week of prep really saved me! (Covered nothing of use, might as well have slept in). Saw guest lecturers (TAs) nearly every single week! Great curves on our D- average midterm (said it would be curved, did not tell us she meant down).

Your grade is determined by two midterms and a final, the second midterm and final had terrible averages (sub 70%) and she barely curves the class. Constantly missing from class for travel and her lectures were terrible when she was there. Sad, many such cases!

Notable gpa ruiner. Avoid at all costs. Cared so little to teach the class that her attendance rate to her own lectures was spotty.

Worst Professor I have ever had. Didn't show up to class due to constant travel. Unnecessarily hard tests. Boring lectures that were hard to hear because of her refusal to use a microphone in class. Could tell she doesn't care about her students and is just at UCSB to do research.

Constantly on trips and she missed all the exam days. She didn't give us any resources to study for any of the exams yet the exams would be extremely difficult and require complicated calc 3 knowledge. Lectures were hard to follow as she only ever did derivations of formulas and never did any examples and had useless lecture slides. AVOID HER.
