Makes math easy. Make sure to cover the practice tests before midterm/final. Don't mess up the final like me and go down a letter grade. Doesn't offer partial credit on exams so triple check you didn't make any calculation errors.
I tried taking 6A with two other (bad) professors before sticking with Landry. I found her lectures to be a little all over the place, but she would always upload them to Canvas. Homework is on Webwork. Two OPEN NOTE midterms and the lowest score gets dropped. Final was take home. I barely went to class and got an A.
Just focus on the practice exams and you'll be fine.
Worst professor ever
unhelpful lectures and badly formatted tests
Homework is worth 25% and exams are worth 75%. No curve. First day of class he said it should be "easy". Beware.
UCSB MATH DEPARTMENT'S FINEST!!!!! A true diamond in the rough I love Therese. Midterms are exactly like the practice and open note, so if you go to lecture, take notes, and do the practice test (aka bare minimum for a math class) you will get an A. ALSO 2 midterms, lowest score dropped. She speaks a bit quiet when lecturing, but easy to follow
Took her for MATH34B. The only reason I got an A was because her practice tests were exactly like the midterms, just with different numbers. Lectures and homework were focused on different material, and she did not teach it well. She did not know how to answer questions in class. To pass you must teach yourself the material.
Probably the easiest A I have ever had. Go to her office hours and she literally gives away the exam problems. 10/10 recommend.
Professor is horrible! She could care less about her students and their concerns. If you have any questions she will literally stare at you for 5+ min straight and say that she doesn't have an answer to your question. Her lectures do not allow you to learn, they confuse you way more. Please for the sake of your education do not take this professor.
Worst professor I have taken at UCSB! She doesn't help with any questions and the test/quizzes are heavy on your grade. Drink 10 cups of coffee before attending lecture and be prepared to self learn. Her lecture slides are not what is presented on the test and she is not reliable. DO NOT TAKE! also her reviews were nothing like the midterms.
WORST PROFESSOR EVER !She teaches math by talking, she only started working out problems until week 4. She doesn't know how to answer any questions and doesn't make time for students, literally runs away from you.Her lecture slides do not explain or help. Her exam reviews are nothing like the exams, she inputs material she hasn't taught into exams.
One of the worst professors that I have ever had. 70% of your grade is on tests and her tests are so random. Very unpredictable. Her teaching was horrible, doesn't teach good at all and her TA was awful too, not helpful whatsoever. Only good thing is the clicker that saves you towards the end because she does extra credit for that as well but no ty
She isn't the best at teaching so you will probably need to learn on youtube also, in order to understand the material. However, she structures the course well and is a pretty generous grader. She curbs the exams which aren't that hard. You'll be okay if you put in effort. Even though her teaching kinda sucks, her class isn't too bad
I loved professor landy for math 3a! GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS ESPECIALLY BEFORE MIDTERMS!! Seriously, she will help you with problems she is likely to put on the exam and solve homework problems for you that you are confused on. Also her take home quizzes are once a week and would be super similar to webworks Iclicker is 10% of the grade.
She teaches in a distinct way. We first attempted iClicker problems before she would go over them. Lecture attendance was mandatory, but she was flexible by dropping a couple of our lowest HW and participation. She graded very generously for exams and even gave opportunities for extra credit on them! She always had a good attitude as well.
Strong accent, focus a lot on basic integral skill. Very good handwriting and lecture notes, appreciate that. But the lecture is a little bit boring though, 100% focus on math.
Practice tests model the midterms, but usually, the midterms are a bit harder. His lectures are alright and his notes are pretty clear. Some of the examples, however, are quite a bit easier than what is asked on the HW (Webworks). He also grades hard compared to the TA.
OK lecturer. Very nice handwriting and super neat/helpful notes though. Has an accent but is still very understandable. He gives out practice exams which are very similar to real exams. Midterm 2 tested how well we knew how to do complicated integrals instead of our understanding of vector calculus >:(
He's not a brilliant professor but I think he's fine. Lectures are clear but not very inspirational; he provides lecture notes that are very helpful for review. Basically he is a professor that you can choose but don't expect too much from him.
He was very difficult to follow and understand. Test grades were fair and similar to the midterms. I don't think most people bought the Math 6A book but I did because I had to teach a lot of the concepts to myself. He does homework that thoroughly goes through the concepts so you can sort of teach yourself through the homework.
READING HIS NOTES EXACTLY AND NO CHEATSHEET EVEN THOUGH HES TESTING U ON ALL U LEARNT IN CALC 1 AND CALC 2
The midterms were okay not difficult but he made the final much more difficult. He did not CURVE the class at all, which I do not understand why. He lacks communication if you email him and it is hard to understand what he is saying. I would not take him again.
Very good professor. Great feedback, teaching with logic, nice handwriting. Highly recommended. I would definitely take his another course again.
