Matt is by far the best math professor on campus. His lectures are clear and concise, and his tests follow his lecture examples and homework problems closely. Wish I had him for all my other math classes
I normally hate my math TAs at this school but Matt Porter was awesome and very helpful. Got an A in a tough math class and I believe Matt Porter was a significant reason for this
He explained some concepts clearly, but others were just difficult to understand even after explaining.
Great TA. He can communicate math to students much more clearly than other math TAs. Was very helpful in office hours, and you can tell he enjoys teaching students.
He is willing to answer questions. However, sometimes I don't get what is he talking about...
Matt was awesome! I was in his office literally every week and he helped me immensely with the material. He's a truly good guy and TA, make sure you take advantage!
he's a nice guy but the subject was hard to understand so i dont blame it on him, he teach me more then the professor
I had him as a TA, and honestly without him most people in the class would have not understood the material since the teacher wasn't so good at explaining the material to the class
Love Matt, he is such an amazing guy, clear and helpful throughout lecture. I enjoyed attending his class and office hours, he would spend time explaining the material over and over until understood. highly recommended
Great TA, answered questions in detail and was always available. Some of the examples were confusing but cleared it up by the end of section
Had him as a TA for Math 3B and he was a great teacher, very helpful.
Matt was a great TA. Super helpful during section and in office hours.
Great TA; very clear and easy to follow. Nice guy too. Make sure to go to sections for quizzes.
Matt was a great TA for Math 3B and an amazing instructor for Math 6A. In lecture he gave clear explanations followed by relevant examples which really helped me understand the material.
What i liked most about his teaching was his friendly method. A lot of my past teachers and TAs would respond to simple questions (that a student should know) with haughty attitudes. This guy doesn't, which allows students to more freely ask questions, thus improving participation and involvement.
The main professor for this class was not very good, but Matt was very helpful in clarifying a lot of the concepts she failed to get across. He's also a super chill and nice guy, take his class if you can.
Has weekly quizzes make sure to attend.
Nice fellow
Matt was extremely helpful and was very calm and collected in his approach to teaching us the fundamentals of math concepts. He explained things in a very logical and conceptually understandable way, and I would recommend him as a teacher or TA for any of my math-related classes. Thank you Matt.
Has his heart in the right place, but rather difficult to understand at times; I still did well in the class though
I previously had issues with Calculus but Matt was able to really help me understand it.
Matt was very helpful in my section and in office hours. One day I came to his office an hour earlier than usual and he didn't mind helping me. He was one of the most patients TA's I've had. As I moved on to higher math classes, where Matt wasn't a TA, he would still help me when I asked him questions.
Matt was a good TA, he made it easy to understand the concepts of finding the area or volume of areas rotated around certain axis and he was patient.
Nice dude who was able to take some of the more difficult concepts of linear algebra and dumb them down, so to speak. Enjoyed his teaching in sections, always had good and relevant examples.
