Professor Lee is an expert in Mediterranean history, making this topic quite fun. He likes to have fun in class, and lectures are usually not dull due to his personality. No electronics, handwritten notes only that you must submit at the end of the week so you have to go to class. lots of readings. midterm, paper, and final. final is open note.
Not a history person but Prof Lee makes everything feel interesting. Slides are posted but most of info comes from actual lecture, attendance is important to understanding the class. Section attendance is mandatory. There's one paper but it's only 1250-1500 words. Cheat sheet allowed on the final was very helpful. He wants you to succeed! Fun class
For what supposedly is an easy class, this was the hardest I've worked for a GE grade. Covers too much content at a fast pace. You have to memorize a ton of locations for the final, often mentioned once or twice in lecture ever. You also have to read 2 books and a very expensive course reader. Very long final with broad essay questions.
very weirdly structured class. makes you buy a reader he could've easily made a PDF so that it was accesible to everyone. assigned seating during lecture. wouldn't reccomend unless you're ready to read a lot. also, doesn't allow a cheat sheet on the midterm like so many past comments. not that great of a professor overall.
This class is an easy grade if you want to take it for general education. I took his class in my fall quarter, the test was easy. He gives you study guides and allows a cheat-cheat. There was one mid-term, one final, and two papers that were due over the course. Take this course if you want an easy A!
Prof. Lee was so interested in the subject that it was difficult not to get excited about it as well. The readings could be hard to get through, but sections were helpful in making sure you got everything you could out of them. Midterm and final had study guides, so you knew exactly how to prepare and we could take a note sheet to the final.
He is enthusiastic about the course material, but lectures could be a bit boring and unorganized. Go to the lectures, take notes, read the readings and you'll be fine. Also you can bring a legal size note sheet to the final which was great.
Overall great guy and good lecturer. Lecture got a bit boring at times but was very informative. Section participation matters. Pretty easy midterm and final. Got to bring legal sized piece of paper with notes for final.
Professor Lee is enthusiastic, caring, and lenient. He is understanding of the situation and would gladly help out within his capabilities; would 10/10 take him again.
The exams are difficult. Reading helps but is not enough. You MUST go to lecture. Professor Lee is an expert. He knows his stuff really well. Impressive how he has all this information in his head and barely anything written on the slides he shows. Information was fascinating.
I've never enjoyed a history class until I had Prof Lee. His lectures are really organized, but not boringly so, and he tells you exactly what you need to know before each test. My TA rocked too, which might have just been my luck, but I think Lee gave a lot of guidance to his TAs, which I'm finding is rare.
Great teacher really fair grader who outlines all the midterms and final for you so you know exactly what to study. Helps out a lot if you ask for it and is very knowelegable on his subject matter. makes lecture interesting.
Amazing professor, one of the best i have had here so far. He is really interested in the subject matter and he passes on that enthusiasm to the students. Plus his specialty is ancient warfare so that makes it a cooler class for me because i am also interested in that area. Two short papers, midterm and final are most of your grade.
prof lee was a very good professor... his lectures were clear and interesting, tests were very fair.. i would def. take another class with him
He's a good lecturer and has good powerpoints; not too hard of a class.
Professor Lee is a very good professor. His power points make the lectures more interesting and he is enthusiastic about the material. Also, he was very helpful when I went to his office hours to have one of my essays reviewed. He read the entire essay and wrote a lot of useful comments on it.
Lee is a solid professor. The course material for 4A is fairly interesting and the lectures were as such. He's pretty young and seems to be rather enthusiastic about the material. the tests were reasonable although the TA's graded rather rigorous on the papers
I personally love History, but I'd heard horror stories about 4A. Prof Lee, however, was awesome. His lectures were absolutely fascinating, and his study guides were a big help for the midterm and final. I regret not going to his office hours, but he did seem a bit intimidating. In conclusion, he's one of the best professors I've had.
prof. Lee is very clear about all the themes in his History class, making it easy to understand the important events and do well in his exams.
I like history alot, and i found him to be very unorganized, unclear, and BORING. yeah, he gives you all the questions to the test, but his lectures lack substace, thus making it hard to understand the course.
Seems like his class goes on forever, but you learn a lot.
Prof Lee is a very nice guy and always willing to help his students.
Prof Lee is awesome. He's passionate and interesting to listen to. Fair tests and grading. Just do the reading and go to lecture and its all good- Lee really tries to help you do well and is very willing to help.
Lee's lectures are always terrific, but they have little to do with the primary source readings that inform the paper assignments and exams. Discussion section becomes the primary refuge for students hoping to do well. Papers are expected to meet stringent but ultimately just standards.
