An exploration of cinema and revolutionary movements in Latin America. Through a selection of films from different genres (drama, comedy, documentary, experimental film), countries (Argentina, Chile, Cuba, Mexico) and historical periods (1910 - present), we will study how cinema has been mobilized as an instrument of militancy, propaganda and critique. We will also inquire into the legacy of the revolutionary projects of the past century, what they mean in the present and what lessons can the US learn from Latin American history and politics today.
