Case studies range from agricultural projects, health campaigns, modernist urbanism, to infrastructure projects like harbors railways, and hydroelectric dams. Class material focuses on development discourses by colonial officials, international experts, and African leaders, as well as on development practices and experiences. How did Africans, men and women, engage with specific development projects and shape their outcomes?
