Explores two-dimensional moiré materials, focusing on how stacking and twisting atomically thin crystals creates highly tunable electronic properties. Small relative rotations produce moiré superlattices and flat electronic bands, enabling strong electron correlations and new quantum phases. Topics include fractional quantum anomalous Hall states, superconductivity, correlated insulators, orbital ferromagnetism, topological order, and model systems such as the triangular Hubbard model. Students develop the concepts needed to critically read current research papers and re-derive their central results.
