This class examines the intersection between data science and science communication. What do statistics, graphs, and data visualizations mean to the average person, and as scientists, how can we leverage insights from linguistics to communicate our science better? In this class, students will learn some R fundamentals, improve their data literacy, and reflect on what is communicated by science reporting in the news and popular media from a linguistic perspective.
