Investigates humanist themes that were the product of the Arab-Islamic reception of Greek thought in the early and classical period of Islamic history (~800- 1258) as championed in the works of literators, philosophers, and historians. The objective of this course is to introduce these humanist themes through close reading and examination of primary sources in their historical, multicultural, and multi-religious contexts.

she does rgst 84 fully in person. there isn't a canvas page or anything. addendence is also a large part of the grade. however, the class is still pretty chill. you can tell shes super interested in the subject. her lectures get boring at times. she also consistently continues talking for 2-3 minutes after the class is actually over. lot of reading

Professor El Omari is quite difficult in how she grades and teaches. You can tell she wants you to succeed and really cares about what she is talking about. She is a harsh grader, but it all rounds out as long as you participate in class. Lectures are heavy. Discussions are fun as long as you read. Weekly assignments and quizzes. midterm and final

RGST84 . El Omari R M 2 Years Ago

Professor Omari is very passionate about the subject and it shows in her lectures. She obviously cares about her students. The class was not electronic and everything was done on paper (not through Canvas). Attendance was mandatory and participation was a part of the grade, but she was super understanding if you need to miss a few classes.

Prof El Omari obviously cares about what she teaches & wants everyone to understand the lectures. Homework is just reading & the final/midterm are essays so it wasn't too much work. I enjoyed the class
