Introduces the derivation and solution of the fundamental linear partial differential equations (PDEs): the wave equation, the heat equation and the Laplace equation. These represent, respectively, hyperbolic, parabolic and elliptic PDEs. Focuses on first and second order PDEs. Students will master methods for initial value problems (IVPs) and boundary value problems (BVPs), including the method of characteristics and the foundational techniques of the Fourier transform and potential theory, providing a rigorous basis for understanding dynamic and steady-state physical systems.

CollegeYou get a good grade if you work hard on this course.
Easy Midterm One and Difficult Midterm Two, but you will pass this course smoothly if you work hard on reviewing the lecture notes and two midterms before the final exam.
Lectures were a bit all over the place, I did a lot of self-studying. The course was almost entirely graded by just a midterm (there were 2 and the lower score was dropped) and the final, and some homework points. One midterm was really easy and one was really hard for some reason (didn't matter). Final was reasonable, and cutoff for an A was 92.
Makes almost no sense during lecture - I taught myself a majority of the material. TA's are super helpful, as they teach you patterns to recognize for exams. The exams themselves are worth 30 and 50% of your grade, so each question is either worth 1 or 2.5 percent of your overall grade. Though, the exams were pretty easy compared to the homework.
Two midterms, the lowest one is dropped. Weekly homework, the lowest one is dropped. All the exams weren't too difficult, but his handwriting during the lecture was not great.
Very easy all mcq midterms and final. lowest midterm dropped. hw due weekly online. TA resources were extremely helpful and I never went to lectures. Not the best teacher with confusing lectures so I didn't bother going.
