Hammer Films is best known for a series of Gothic horror films made between 1957 and 1976. It featured classic horror characters such as Baron Frankenstein, Count Dracula, The Mummy and the Wolf Man, re-introduced to audiences in vivid color for the first time. Hammer's films were immensely popular, not just because of the graphic violence shown on screen but because they made explicit the hitherto concealed sexual subtexts of Gothic horror. The seminar is an overview/reading of classic Hammer Films, with an emphasis on the horror genre plus some Hammer influenced horror films as points of comparison.

CollegeThe class is fine, but can feel a bit boring at times. The professor provides study guides that are very helpful for the two midterms. Attendance matters, so going to lecture and section is important. Overall, it's manageable if you stay on top of the material.
Grades harshly if you don't participate a lot. Will call you out during class for anything. Has readings every day and doesn't mention them in class.
Eloi is a fantastic professor. He is sharp, funny, and an engaging lecturer. For his upper division Spanish courses you need to have basically fluent comprehension of the language, but he is not a stickler for grammar in written assignments and is very understanding. I looked forward to coming to his class every day!
Probably the best professor I've taken, seems harsh at first but he really isn't. Appreciates effort
Solid professor, understanding, tough at times if midterm/tests don't go well, but open to be helpful. The class content itself was very hard, so he didn't do a bad job. Just follow the study guide/have those answers prepped in your head before the exam, and it'll be really straightforward (basically copy paste from study guide).
Professor Castillo is super nice and helpful. Lectures were a bit hard to follow as he didn't stick to slides too much. Definitely a more difficult teaching style for non-native speakers. However there's great opportunity to boost your grade through participation.
