I had Professor Sylvester for 1a and 1b. I really liked her lectures, they were easy to follow and she includes a lot of example problems which was really helpful. She provides a lot of practice for exams and her tests are very similar to practice tests.
I did not go to class much and really only did the practice tests the night before, but the curve saved me. It's not hard to do well if you can at least put aside one day to do practice problems, Sylvester is a great professor and when I did go I enjoyed lecture! Her expectations are super clear for exams and very similar to practice exams.
Sylvester is a funny, nice person but her tests are brutal. Good lecturer, but gave the easiest examples of problems and the easiest practice exams that did not help or prepare you for the exams at all. exams were nothing like practice exams, books problems, and were absurdly hard. Had her for 1A then for 1B and had to drop after the 2nd midterm.
Exam is harder than PHYS 119A final.
This class is challenging. The practice exams aren't enough to do well on the midterms and finals. Do the book problems a couple of times and you will be fine.
fade this; all dat prep for what; midterm was literally nothing like lecture or practice tests; insanely egregious
