CollegeGraded based off of weekly one-page writing assignments, a 7-9 pager biographical research paper, and a 5 minute presentation. The professor is somewhat of a tough grader but he's very accessible and gives good feedback.
There are no tests or quizzes in Hist 9. There is normally a one-page, single-spaced paper due every week, and that is the majority of the workload with the exception of the final paper. Roberts is always relaxed and humorous during class, and you can see that he truly cares about what he is teaching. Don't worry if you aren't a history major.
He's a great prof - honestly just a little boring on the lectures and content, but attendance isn't mandatory and puts all the info on slides and posts them on canvas.
One of the kindest professors, very passionate. Lectures aren't mandatory (all info needed will be on slides he posts on Canvas), but section is! There's weekly readings that are manageable by skimming and an online quiz on lecture info. No midterm exams, just 2 relatively easy essays and a bluebook final that he gives an thorough study guide for.
I took this class in Fall 2024 and I thought Roberts was an excellent professor overall. His only flaw is that it can sometimes be unclear what you're supposed to gleam from his powerpoint presentations. Other than that, a manageable workload (weekly quizzes + 3 short essays) and a take-home final made this a perfectly doable upper division class.
This is my 4th class with Prof Roberts; he is an awesome professor who is very willing to help. If you complete the readings and attend lectures, you will do well. Workload was a one-page paper due every week, 3 open note quizzes, and a final 9-page research paper (he helps a lot and gives detailed feedback on draft). Go to his office hours!
