CollegeWhy did the physics department have a gravitational theory grad student be a TA for a course focused on FPGA? Research papers use the language "we" but points are taken off because of unprofessional language like that. You would spend 15 hours minimum per lab because they can be very tedious.
Great guy, engaging lectures. He is not the most theoretically inclined professor, but is enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the core material of the class. Homework is pretty simple as most problems are taken from Griffiths. Exams are average difficulty for the department. Overall one of the better profs in the department, but not an easy A.
This professor did a terrible job in explaining things. Get ready to read the textbook.
Lipman is a genius, and you learn so much from just listening to him talk. He makes you understand how stuff actually works, not just memorizing crap for no reason. His classes are hard - tough grader, long homework with difficult problems which are most of the grade (remainder is big final project). But the payoff is learning invaluable skills
I would say even I got an A+ BUT I do not suggested anyone to take his class. He did not make the knowledge clear. If you are not talent enough or really want to learn something (his exam is never challenged but tooooo much in such a time limit), please choose another professor.
Good class, well organized, interesting material. Expect a LOT of work, reading, and searching for material not in book or for material waayyy beyond the assigned chapters. Exams absolutely made us cry.
