MATH117 . Yang F A Month Ago

Very thick accent. Doesn't publish notes and uses a Chinese textbook. Attendance not mandatory but necessary to know anything on the midterm or final. Doesn't have anything on canvas. Homework is published through announcements and must be emailed to TA. Only way to see actual midterm or final for regrade requests is during office hours.

The professor has been audited three times. They use a Chinese textbook, but does not explain anything in the given English textbook. They are incredibly rude and when a student asked a question in class about a topic, they responded later in an email to everyone, saying "Why would anyone think [that]". Avoid at all costs. Atrocious.

Professor makes a bad first impression, was tempted to drop on first day. But, his accent is only a problem the first day, and he teaches things very clearly. You can choose to have homework included if it benefits your grade. Very comforting environment, ended up really enjoying the class and it really changed the way I think.

Makes almost no sense during lecture - I taught myself a majority of the material. TA's are super helpful, as they teach you patterns to recognize for exams. The exams themselves are worth 30 and 50% of your grade, so each question is either worth 1 or 2.5 percent of your overall grade. Though, the exams were pretty easy compared to the homework.
