CollegeI will take any class she teaches. She is probably the best lecturer I have had, and her perspective as a legal historian is very interesting. However, every class she teaches is only essays, so you do have to learn how to write for her/her TAs' grading style. You should go to the lectures to write relevant and informed essays.
Great class, she was a super engaging professor. Lectures were very fun and interesting, she loves when you ask questions. Only graded on 4 papers the entire quarter, so if you like writing then it's an easy class. I sadly am not the best writer, so it was a bit of a struggle but I did find the topics super interesting.
Paper heavy, and we had blue book tests (switched due to AI use). I felt strongly that she is one of the most passionate lecturers I've had at UCSB. Gave great lectures and if you were attentive you could do great as lectures are extremely key. You can really feel the dedication here, despite the plain structuring of the class.
Passionate and knowledgeable lecturer. I suspect she'll make exams in person bc lots of people abused AI for the midterm and she made the final in person. TA's are allergic to giving over 95s in the history dept so if you want an A it is not easy to get. Readings are interesting and reasonable, accessible for nonmajors.
Prof. Perrone is a great lecturer. Midterm was a take-home essay. Unfortunately a lot of people were using AI for their essays so she made the final in person closed note essays...Still a good class. All readings are on canvas or free. Passionate.
She's amazing. My favorite professor I've taken at UCSB so far.
