CollegeVery vague on grading and disorganized but you can tell she's extremely passionate about what she teaches and has a great sense of humor. Had her for HIST9 (a seminar), so there's likely some difference in her regular courses. Queen
She truly cares for her work and her students. She may be a bit disorganized but always makes up for it with extensions and opportunities for rewrites and Office Hours- and she gives great feedback on papers. I would love to take her again, and I'm definitely not a medieval history enjoyer. Graded on three 500-word papers and a ~2000-word final.
Professor Lansing is one of those professors who just loooove their subject, and it shows in her lectures. She really takes the time to answer questions, even silly curious questions, which makes the class really interesting
Loved Professor Lansing's lectures. She is very clearly very knowledgable. The readings were never an unreasonable length, and were always interesting and relevant. Though many in the department are the opposite, Prof Lansing was extremely down to earth, kind, and encouraging while also being challenging. Grading was fair and feedback was abundant.
I really enjoyed taking this class! The difficulty really depends on your TA and their grading style/how strict they are. Definitely attend office hours with your TA for the essay. Some of the readings are really heavy, but divide them up throughout the week and they should be very doable. The final was also really fair.
I enjoyed her enthusiasm and knowledge of the subject. She did get too disorganized at times. Unfortunately, my TA was somewhat harsh and vague towards grading, making the GE class difficult for me. However, Professor tried her best to help me do well in her class, especially by giving specific and helpful feedback for my essay revision.
