CollegeDont' take it. Not an easy GE at ALL. The TAs graded all assignments centered around a B. Not a GPA booster class at all. Tons of reading. Terrible experiences
Having a passion for the literature makes this class a 5. Prof is very nice cares about what she teaches. Short quiz in section every week with 4 writing assignments making up your grade (with an optional final!). TA grades everything. Overall, it is an easy GE with a nice prof who is not strict-- and you can't go wrong with that.
No midterm and optional final, class is graded by section and 4 close readings. Prof Ninh is a passionate and amazing lecturer and she WILL remember everyone (by name) who speaks to her. Books are dense, but her lectures clear many thing up. TAs are also very sweet and will help. Attend Section!!!! (and lecture) Also easier GE for ethnicity req.
Needlessly confusing lecturer. I never went to lecture just because they were so incomprehensible. The grade was really just section attendance and 4 written assignments (not essays, but they were still tough and had very poor direction). Only saving grace is generous grading scheme. I loved my TA though; the TA makes the class.
She overcomplicates things in lecture and it almost seems like shes trying to prove how intelligent she is. Shes super vague about whats expected of us for assignments, and she literally wants us to regurgitate what she says during lecture. Way too much work for a GE. Books are interesting though.
Extremely intelligent and insightful. Very inspiring. She even remembers names of people who answer questions. Loved her lectures, though they were dense. She doesn't post slides online. Class wasn't ridiculously hard, but definitely harder than Pandya's version and it might be more work than you're willing to put in for a GE.
