An introduction to the plant diversity and plant communities of California. The floristic composition and ecology of California plant communities will be examined through lectures and field observations. Methods of plant identification will be applied in the laboratory. Two Saturday field trips are required.

Prerequisites: MCDB 1A, MCDB 1B, EEMB 2 and EEMB 3. Completion of all listed prerequisites with a grade of C- or better.
