The goal of the course is to help students learn about how personnel economists think about key topics in human resources. We will focus on the topics of hiring, managers, management practices, workplace amenities, workplace communication, and monitoring. The course is a complement to Professor Peter Kuhn's class; we will focus on different topics. We will also focus on reading and discussing academic papers, and there is no textbook. The ultimate goal is for you to be fully acquainted with insightsfrom personnel economics, and for you to gain experience evaluating evidence and claims about how to manage the workforce.
