CollegeLack of organization makes it difficult to follow along during lectures. The amount of dull reading adds insult to injury. Instead of discussions/activities, you're bombarded with dry texts that fail to pique your interest. It's like slogging through a swamp of uninspiring content, desperately searching for something remotely engaging to hold onto.
Take home midterm/final. 2 short book commentary papers & 1 4-page paper that she required you use 25 sources. Not too bad, she's very enthusiastic & encourages class discussion, brought snacks to every class.
Professor Bhavnani is the reason I will be going to grad school. SOC 156A and 156B are the two most engaging and inspirational courses I have taken during my 4 years at UCSB. If you have the opportunity, take her class! Works with you to revise papers if needed, open to suggestions, flexible, and gives extra credit!
Professor Bhavnani is by far my favorite professor at UCSB. She understands that as students we are there to learn and improve, for this reason she allows you to rewrite your papers if you receive a less than satisfactory grade. She is the sweetest and has a great passion for social movements! Only 4 papers all short.
She was the most adorable teacher ever. So nice and helpful and even gave us the day off class (when we asked) to give us extra time to read the novel. My TA (Rolo) was a super easy grader and there are tons of extra credit opportunities.
One of my favorite professors. Great perspective on the world. Adorable mannerisms, very interactive. I love her and her TA Neda is really smart and interesting too!
