This seminar explores upcycling and mending clothing: we’ll try practices, consider examples of creators who upcycle, and explore the environmental values behind these practices. We’ll also visit the UCSB Makerspace to learn about the equipment they have to support mending. You’ll emerge with at least one upcycled clothing item and write a reflection about it. No previous sewing experience is required and all mending materials are provided. You will need one item of clothing you want to mend or upcycle (with an optional field trip to Alpha Thrift store in Goleta outside of the scheduled seminar time to learn how to select items and fabrics well-suited for upcycling).

CollegeShe was a great professor if you are busy and don't want strict deadlines. She is so lenient that instructions/due dates can get very confusing and unfortunately she is not great at replying via email so don't leave any questions to the last minute (you will not get a response in time). Otherwise, easy course with bi-weekly assignments.
She's is honestly the best professor at UCSB. She is incredibly caring and will give you as many opportunities as you need- she really cares about her student. While the content of her class might seem odd at first, its quite enjoyable at the end!
seems sweet but can be pissy when things don't go her way. lecture heavy and makes you talk in groups. weekly essay drafts, usually two paragraphs. repeatedly have us work on the same essay topics. ended up w/ two completed essays and one solo presentation. gives 96% on most work except for final essays. flexible due dates. confusing instructions.
Dr. Webber is the kindest and most caring professor. She is so understanding with late work and her deadlines are pretty flexible. She made Writ 2 incredibly enjoyable- I cannot praise her teaching style enough.
Dr. Webber was so delightful to have as a professor. Her lectures are filled with applicable stories and anecdotes that made the class really enjoyable and she was very receptive to the class. From the first time we met she always remembered my name and research topic and every conversation we had left a smile on my face.
Great professor! Very lenient and supports us in improving our writing. Gave us a lot of freedom to write and pursue our interests.
