Introduction to electromechanical systems and instrumentation used in Chemical Engineering. Fundamentals of transducers, sensors and actuators; interfacing and controlling hardware with software (Labview & Matlab programming); analog and digital circuits; hands-on electrical and mechanical design, prototyping, and construction. Students produce a final computer-controlled electromechanical project of their own design, or in conjunction with a ChE-faculty research laboratory.

This class does a great job of teaching valuable technical and non-technical skills, and Gordon clearly has a ton of experience with teaching thermodynamics, so his explanations are always top notch. The final this year was roughly as difficult as expected, so no surprises there. Definitely don't wait on doing the design project!! Start early!!

Gordon is seriously amazing. He gives us great opportunities to work on both our skills as general engineering students, and to work on improving our technical and report writing skills. Homework can be hard but tests are very fair. Don't wait until the last minute to work on the design project!

Hard topic but Professor Gordon made it very easy to understand. His lectures are super clear and answer almost any questions you could have. Initially comes off as very serious but he's great to talk to and connect with for advice or anything about your college career. I also had him for ChE 10 and everything I previously said applies.

G-Money! Truly made thermodynamics understandable and I feel very prepared going into 110B. I highly recommend Professor Gordon for any class he offers.

Truly the GOAT of the chemical engineering department. I enjoyed ChE 10 so much and appreciate Professor Gordon's willingness to help his students and his disdain for loud noises outside of our classroom.
