Introduction to health economics, second half. We will apply principles andeconometric techniques to the production of health and healthcare. Emphasis on reduced-form methods for analyzing policy relevant to health- care markets. Focus on topics, not methods, and will cater to students especially interested in applied micro. The goal is to take students close to the research frontier, educate them about the history and the institutions of US healthcare, and generate research topics. Most research in health economics is heavily empirical, and the course will highlight theory to guide hypothesis testing and the specification of empirical models.

Collegelacks control of the class, lazy instruction, super late grades for exams, overall seems like he'd rather be somewhere else than teaching 140A. Relatively easy A but don't expect to enjoy your time.
Hes mad chill. His slides and readings have everything u need for the test and he has very fair tests. He is also a good lecturer and makes class interesting.
Easy midterm if you study the slides; homeworks graded easy
Professor Silver was good. He seems like a really nice guy and is very knowledgeable about the topic. I felt bad since health economics is a hard topic to teach but he does a good job. Topics were a little dull at times but that's to be expected learning about the nuances of health insurance. He wants his class to succeed!
He was rude if you didn't attend his lecture. He belittled his students and thought that he has to prove a point by giving a really hard exam rather than understanding that our class was clearly lost on the material he was teaching by the extremely low scores.
