She is such a wonderful person. She has a tough exterior but she is actually incredibly kind, and wicked smart. She will not only sharpen up your ballet technique with great and precise corrections, but she'll give you lessons about the theory behind dance that you've never heard before. You are lucky to be able to take class with Val!

I genuinely enjoy having Val as a ballet teacher. Shes a pretty quirky but to me its very entertaining. Out of all the dance teachers Ive had thus far at UCSB, she gives the best corrections and actually gives reasoning behind them. Val can definitely make you feel singled out at times, but has made a positive impact on my ballet technique

She should not be a ballet teacher. She gives you a correction and then that specific correction changes the next time. I do not believe she knows what she is doing, also very condescending. I love ballet and when I took her class she took the passion away.
