I took this class over the summer, but he was an amazing teacher. His lectures were very clear and very organized. I felt very comfortable asking him question during class and after class. The overall organization of the class might have been different since I took it over the summer and it was a lot but manageable with the homework and quizzes.
Super straight forward lectures and good notes that are posted to gs and updated every lecture. Also had good quality recorded lectures and posted them online as well. Really chill prof.
One of the best professors I've had. Great lectures, super clear instruction, well structured class. Pretty funny sometimes as well. Thoroughly enjoyed the class.
Very awesome professor. I took this three weeks ME15 in summer. HW was not heavy, just 1-3 problems from Monday to Thursday and a quiz each Friday. I was supposed to get an A- but he curved it to A which meant a lot to me.
The homework takes a good amount of time, but the quizzes and final are extremely straightforward and not too bad, so it should be an easy A. Also this guy is really funny and chill.
By far the best professor at USCB Ive ever had. Always makes lectures engaging and very thought out, as in you wont ever get lost or trying to keep up with the pace. Explains everything step by step and always is welcoming to questions during and after lectures.
If you get on his bad side, he is a disrespectful person.
He gives really good lectures, and the material isn't difficult if you put the effort. You can put yourself out of the running for an A early if you're not careful, so be prepared for the pop quizzes. He said he would post a practice final but didn't which sucked since the final was much more difficult than the midterm. Other than that he's solid.
Can't go wrong with Beltz.
Professor Beltz is a reasonable guy and gives good lectures. He has fair grading criteria, but be prepared to work hard. This class is important to understanding future classes.
I COULD VISUALIZE ALL THE CONCEPTS
Pretty much the best ME professor you can ask for. Always knows what he's talking about, always clear, always enthusiastic. In addition, his tests are a piece of cake if you go to lecture. The one thing to be wary of are his pop quizzes, but if you have him you have no reason not to attend lecture.
This is probably the best professor I've ever had. Breaks the subject down so it is very easy to understand. Tests and homework are reasonable. Presents subject with great enthusiasm and generates a lot of interest in topics. If you don't go to his lectures, why bother going to any lectures in college? doesnt get much better than this.
Really good professor, his lectures are so much more clear than the textbook we have to use. Depending on your TA, you will either have a good time in the class, or an extremely bad one. Choose well. Ask upperclassmen what their opinions are.
Great lecturer, made statics a breeze. Strength of Materials looking to be the same thing. You MUST attend lecture, pop quizzes are a huge portion of the grade. Nothing is worse than not getting an A because of sleeping through class.
Great professor. Subject is easy, but he makes the concepts crystal clear during lecture. Make sure you go to lecture because he does give pop quizzes, however if the class average is not to his liking, he will give retakes. Overall helpful professor, and I'm glad he's teaching ME15 again next quarter.
This guy is awesome. Played youtube videos at the beginning of class sometimes relevant and sometimes not, wrote really big on the board and encouraged students to ask questions, some of the TAs weren't great at grading though, I think 1/3 of the class disputed their MT grade so watch out w. sign convention
During the first couple of lectures, I thought this class was going to be really hard. NOPE. Just the opposite, the class was really interesting and neither exam was hard. Everything was straight forward. The homeworks take some time, but hey, thats engineering for you. Compared to what's ahead, this class is a piece of cake so live it up!
fun teacher!
One of the greatest professors I have ever had at UCSB. It is really helpful when your professor is really enthusiastic about what they are teaching. Very smart and easy to approach. Will always help students out no matter what.
Beltz is the best professor in the ME department in terms of clear teaching and making concepts very easy to understand. Beltz is also very helpful outside of the classroom and is a very cool guy.
Best Prof ever. Super hot
Beltz is one of my favorite professors. His clarity in teaching and his straight forward style makes his classes enjoyable and understandable. He is also a great advisor. He likes to make people push their limits and helps people with their own personal goals. My advice: go talk to him. He is extra helpful with figuring out problems.
very helpful into helping his students. if you do all your work, its a great class.
