The most annoying professor ever
Mandatory attendance and he can't explain anything properly. Avoid. Thinks he's funny but he's not.
I was nervous taking this professor just from the reviews but I will say he is an amazing professor.highly highly recommend taking him as long as you show you are putting in effort and participating in class even just speaking to him outside of class or after class you will pass with a good grade. He is incredibly kind and understanding. Take him.
I was very nervous taking him by reading the reviews but I will say he is an amazing professor. If you are actively putting in effort and participating in his class even just talking to him after you will get a good grade. He is extremely understanding and kind I highly recommend him as a professor truly an amazing professor.
The expectations really clear, make sure you go actively to class and participate. He's pretty understanding and he helped me out a lot as well. I'm very grateful, he wants his students to succeed and while he does go off tangents sometimes, he's entertaining and the class is overall enjoyable. Also very generous of bonuses at the end of quarter.
Karen's great. It's true you should participate and he goes on lots of tangents, but as long as you're able to grasp to the details of the lecture you'll be fine. He is very accessible and grading criteria is clear. Class is challenging but not hard. Overall W prof would recommend. Participate enough and he'll give a big bonus, very clutch on tests
Super great professor! He strongly encourages participation and it is honestly fun to participate in his class, he will joke around with you and still make the course easy to pass, even if the material is sort of hard to grasp, he wants you to succeed!!
He is a super sweet professor, just participate in elcture and you will do well. Participation helps a lot, as well as sitting near the front and saying hi, he really appreciates it when you put effort into saying something. Show up to lecture because he does random attendance and the HWs are very reasonable. He gives lots of bonuses at the end.
actually one of the worst professors ive ever had, avoid him at all costs.participation is HEAVILY important so if you don't like to speak/just lost you're already at a disadvantage. Lectures are mandatory but useless, goes off on many rants and can't explain difficult concepts well or at all. super disorganized but did give some bonuses at the end.
Cannot understand anything he explains in class. Exams are way different than what we are actually taught in class. Thanks to the TA for being super helpful.
This was the worst class I have taken. Can be funny at times, but it doesn't make up for all the disorder and confusion. It's almost guaranteed that he loses track and forgets he is teaching a lecture. In my experience, my understanding and grade hinged off of the TA - exams were difficult and confusing. Participation is rewarded heavily. Good luck
Prof Grigorian is very passionate and lighthearted with the classes he teaches and will often explore interesting concepts (outside of usual class scope) or applications related to the course content. Curves classes based on class difficulty and is very lenient with grading. Make sure to attend lectures and PARTICIPATE ALOT, and youll get an A
His course are difficult to follow, but overall he is a good and passionate professor. The TAs will guide you to solve the homework problems, and the tests are based on given practices as well as homework, so if you work hard and go to lectures regularly, it's not hard for you to get an A.
Great teacher, and good lecturer. It was a fun entertaining class and he truly just wants people to show up and participate. Will give extra credit on exams for attendance and even a free exam question for participation. Does attendance randomly when the room isn't full. Easy exams, it is very similar to the practice exam. He wants you to succeed.
Really kind professor. He's a fair grader, and make sure you attend class (even if you don't participate) so that he knows who you are. Clear grading criteria, lots of opportunities for extra points and reduce the weight of your midterm and final by doing optional projects
Dr. Grigorian is super engaging, time flies in lecture. The lecture material is really difficult, impossible to understand in lecture and incredibly difficult to understand after, but the exams are easier and more comparative to textbook material. He randomly takes attendance and also grades on participation. Textbook is a must to read.
If you are part of his cult and participate, you'll be rewarded with questions removed from midterms and finals. He also taught stuff way outside of the Exam FM syllabus and skipped immunization. I have avoided sharing my grade and other information out of fear that his cult members search and silence me. Save yourself and remember this: skdjhfbsdk
His only cons are really that the lecture are very scattered but he does provide lecture slides to go along with it. You do have to study on your own, however, PARTICIPATE! I didn't have to do 20% of my final, 10 other students who participated a lot got the same treatment. PLEASE do the optional final project and you literally have a Guaranteed A
Bipolar during exam time. His lectures make very little sense and goes so far beyond the scope of the class that the TA's started just giving us answers to the homework. A lot of what you go over in lecture doesn't even go on the exams because he's not allowed to test on it. Genuinely the most stressful class I have ever taken. Also crazy favoritism
Professor Grigorian is very passionate about math, and that comes across in lecture for sure. His tests are very fair and if you take time to study and do practice problems it should be fine. Homework does take a little while, but it is helpful to understand the concepts. Participation MATTERS. Definitely sit closer to the front so he remembers you
Professor clearly loves teaching mathematics you can see his passion in the way he explain concepts. The midterm was fair, and they provided helpful sample questions for preparation. I shared my concerns about this course with him, and he took the time to listen. Even though my performance wasn't great, I think he is a good educator.
Good lecturer, very passionate about the subject. Can get bogged down in theoretical concepts, but very fair on how he tests them. Midterm was challenging so gave lots of bonus opportunities and an easy final, gives extra credit to people who participate in class - sit in the front so he know you! Lectures genuinely needed to do well butinteresting
Homework takes forever, class only covers proofs and unrelated content. Loves to bring in super high-level concepts and introduce you to tons of new notation when it's not necessary. Gives lots of bonuses to people who participate in class but you need to already know his concepts to answer any of the questions, basically an abstract math class.
Decent lecturer. But if you don't like abstract math, don't take the class, loves to make things theoretical and complicated. Also PARTICIPATION matters a lot - let students remove 1/3 of the final just for participating but you need to read the book before lecture to answer any of his impossible questions. Also lecture is mando for all the proofs
