This class is really fair if you read and pay attention in lecture. The lectures bring up some interesting points that are useful on papers and attendance is basically required to do well on the final. Professor Fishman is a super nice person too. Would definitely recommend.

This class was Comparative Literature and the only time we compared literature was the last paper due on the last day. I cannot tell you what the goal of the class was. You should do the readings for the final but you can also just not show up and be fine. Complained about attending class constantly and only listened to her honors students. 0/10

Bad teacher, didn't learn anything in this class. HARD to pay attention to her boring lecture. She got salty that nobody attended her lecture anymore towards the end of the quarter so she made the final picture ID's of picture from lecture.

Overall she's a pretty good professor; not necessarily someone you would hate. You do learn things from her lectures that can not be found in the books, however she does summarize certain parts in lecture. Lecture is slow. It's a bit of reading but nothing that can't be managed. I wouldn't recommend this class with another reading-heavy class.

She's just so kind. She's probably the most caring teacher I've met for my whole school time. I am now taking Comparative Literaure 30A with her and I really felt that my reading skills are improving.

Amazing classics professor. She's really sweet and funny, and makes class a joy every day. Sometimes she struggles with technology, but the content is always good and she really gives context to the books you read. Don't listen to the other reviews, if you pay attention during lecture you WILL learn things you won't from the books.

Terrible professor. Her lectures consist of summaries of the book. She prolongs the lecture and doesn't add any meaningful knowledge to what we already know of the book.

I've never missed a class ever since 1st grade, until taking her class. I stopped going to lectures since the third week. There's just no point of wasting 75 minutes listening to her repeating scenes in the readings SLOWLY, going to the library and reading by yourself is a much more efficient choice. If you just wanna fill up your GE, think twice.

I love going to lecture and I never miss class. So it's saying a lot when I say that I HATED listening to Prof. Fishman's lectures. She was awful. Tests were more difficult than she made them seem. Don't take this class.

The topic was interesting,and she had outlines that were very helpful. There is a good amount of reading, but it was interesting. You will do fine if you do the reading.

worst professor EVER. made me want to kill myself. knew nothing about the topic and read her notes word for word that she had also posted online. going to class is pointless. i feel like she wasted 40 hours of my life and i want them back :( BOO

This was one of the worst teachers I have ever had in my entire life. She didn't know the material AT ALL, came into class, read the lectures, then got mad at us for not reading that AWFUL textbook she assigned. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF SHE IS TEACHING IT.

class sucked!!! the tests sucked. she put passages from religious books and asked "where is this from?" so if youre one of those people who dont do the readings, youre screwed.

I thought it was very important that she went over the translations very carefully, because it really helped us for her tests which focused a lot on grammar.

The class goes very slow. Although, that might change because of department pressure. She is a friendly person. Does not explain the grammer very well. The examples are all from the book. The exams are very fair. Watch out for the relative pronoun. Quizzes didn't count.

Professor really doesn't help out much. Lots of reading with little accountability except for sections and midterms. If you can, get Aaron as your TA. He's an egotistical jerk but passionate.

She read the outline, she didn't know the material

she reads directly from the book, lecture notes, and has a hard voice to listen to. there were too many quizzes, summaries, tests, and one huge paper... too much for a ge. i hated it.

Avoid this teacher, but the actual class isn't that hard, just one 8 pg paper and 2 scantron tests, but you really have to do the readings because the teacher knows nothing about religious studies and brings no additional information to lectures

When working on your translations for this class, don't be shy to read them to her in class. She is very kind and cares about the subject material. The grade is made up of your midterm and your final and she is a fair grader. Also, she is very careful about translating everything perfectly.

Don't even bother going to lecture, the questions that she does take from it are printed online. The midterm and final are constructed to test the most minutely detalied information and no clarity is offered about how it all ties together. DO NOT TAKE
