this COULD be a really good class but the suckiness of the teacher makes it horrible. the readings are beautiful but she's so painful to listen to, offers no insight to anything, and reads straight off her notes. she can't f'ing teach so she makes the class unbearable. i was excited to take it too.
She is a horrible teacher and really needs to make the class less labor intensive and scratch the paper assignment
she reads strait off of her notes, and STRAIT FROM THE BOOK. she offers absolutely no insight into the material and her lectures are soooo boring. but she does give you her basic notes online, so you really don't have to take notes.
She reads straight from the book in lecture and seems very disorganized. If i didnt have a good TA this class would have been miserable. Wait till next year when she doesnt teach this class.
she practically reads her lecture off of a computer, like she is doing a student presentation or something. the class is really boring as it is, and she makes it even less interesting. the work and tests for the class are painful if you don't read.
a hard class, and kind of boring. i'd prob try to avoid it. she's a so-so lecturer. not terrible but definitely not great. make sure to print up the outlines before class!!!
I can't even go to lecture anymore because all she does is read sraight off her lecture notes and her tests are ridiculus anyways. Reading the material only helps with like 70% of the class otherwise you have to memorize minute details she mentioned once for about a second.
The biggest waste of time ever. By far the worst class I've ever taken at UCSB. A lot of reading, horrible and boring lectures, picky tests, etc. If you're looking to cover a GE, take a different class. ONLY take this class if you know disgustingly minute details about Jews and Christianity.
The class isnt bad if you do the reading but its hard to stay awake in it...really hard.
a very friendly and nice person. she is a bit disorganized. One of the least frightening latin professors you will ever meet. She needs to give better examples. Her explinations of grammer do need some work
I am in her religion and western civ ancient class. This woman is almost painful to listen to, she reads directly off her notes and her lectures are full of 'likes' and lots of hair flipping. Has a good sense of humor and is very friendly but cannot lecture.
I think the girls in the class found it a ton more interesting than the guys, and they actually laughed at her "sex and the city" jokes. I had a hard time staying awake sometimes. Not a bad teacher but i didn't enjoy the class.
She loves teaching and loves classics, so it's hard to find anything to complain about. She's especially good at working one-on-one with students, and she is very willing to go the extra mile to help students who want or need it.

hummm...aside from the way she holds her microphone and the blatant fact that she loves to hear herself talk she is not the worst professor i have had, but she does need to learn how to get organized, her long pauses waste a lot of class time.
