This guy is a good "person" but he is not a good "lecturer'. His homework is so hard, You should definitely go to office hours. and the final is the worst.
Was very contradictory to students. On the final he said there wouldn't be a proof by induction question; the first question on the final is a proof by induction. He makes most of his announcements through discord, and not email. His homework has no correlation to any of the quizzes or exams. Everything is a time crunch. TAs contradict him
quite literally the worst class i've ever taken at UCSB. super disorganized, easy lecture slides, difficult homework assignments, worse midterm and final. didn't have exams finalized until the last minute and gave students no direction on what to expect. everything was discussed on discord and there were probably 10% of students checking it daily.
Terrible professor. The problems in his slides are normal. But the homework is harder. The midterm and final is even the hardest. 60 minutes for 6 questions with full justifications in midterm. Don't have enough time.
I am genuinely rethinking my entire college course because of this class. Because of his teaching (see other reviews), I do not think I will pass this class and I refuse to retake it with him, and therefore will have to switch majors. But I'd rather do that than take his class again.
Very disorganized. Assigns a fair amount of homework that has little no correlation to his exams. He does not readily respond to emails.
I don't know why the midterm is simple and the final is so hard. You can imagine that we have 12 questions but nearly 60n parts and even one part can be a separate question, he gave us 3 hours even more 3 hours I can finish them all.
THE FINAL IS SOOOOOO HARD!!!!!!! The homework and final test are extremely difficult, especially compared with his high-school-level easy lecture content. This professor will absolutely devastate your GPA.
All the lectures are explaining simple knowledge but the homework is extremely difficult. The final is even more difficult than the homework. I am really sure I will fail this course after taking the final. The final is super hard and has nothing related to the lecture. The examples from the lecture only teach the easiest question.
Saad’s class has unorganized lectures with even more confusing slides. The final came out of left field and was somehow harder than the already near-impossible homework. It respectfully did not fairly assess students.
Incredibly difficult. Mandatory lectures basically useless, teaches as if you already understood the content before walking into lecture. Tests are fast and problems are much more difficult than those on hw/lectures. If must take him, look up Analyst Prep SOA Exam Fm on youtube, channel goes over entire course and is much easier to learn from.
Professor Mouti is generally a nice professor. Took his pstat120A in Fall 2021. I had so many questions and Professor Mouti helped me figure out all of them. He stayed until he answered all of my questions. Really patient and nice. I emailed him for questions during winter break and he responded quickly with clear explanation.
Honestly a very nice guy and offers a lot of help to those who need it, if you want to succeed u will. lecture attendance is mandatory. I think his lectures are kinda hard to follow along if you don't have a strong math background, I can't understand the silly symbols that the stats definitions have, but examples help.
Literally, the worst professor I have had at UCSB, lectures are very hard to understand doesn't match up with the homework and tests given. Not enough time for the quiz he doesn't put into account that uploading our work takes a while. Extra credit is a group project. Please don't make him your life will be hell.
One of the most unorganized professors I have had at UCSB. Saad has a mandatory attendance system despite his lectures being completely useless for learning content. I usually would have to attend lecture, then spend 40 minutes after lecture on youtube to actually learn the topics.
Professor Mouti is nice and accessible for office hours. However, his lectures are not helpful at all and have little correlation to the HWs and exams. Not enough time given for quizzes and quizzes/exams weighted heavily. He mentioned an opportunity for extra credit at beginning of quarter but said nothing until the due date. Avoid if possible.
Professor Mouti's class is one of the most difficult classes I have ever taken, the lectures are understandable but don't correlate to the homework and Midterm given. The TA's are very hard at grading and don't teach the material the same way as the professor, so things get confusing in the process. Go to office hours and attend every lecture.
The homework and exams are so difficult. If you are not good at calculus, you would fail.
The lecture is only teaching simple basic concepts but the homework is way harder than what we learned during the lecture. However, the exams are even more difficult than homework. If you want to pass the class you must go every office hours in order to understand the homework and concepts in the lectures. The exam is very diffcult.
Professor Mouti teaches the most complicated way, that it will take you a while to understand. His lectures are long and very confusing. There is homework every week, quizzes every two weeks, one midterm and a final. I recommend that office hours are a must for this course.
Dr. Mouti lectures well, but does not do enough to ensure that the course requirements are clear. The syllabus misses critical course details, deadlines are not listed in gauchospace, and you're expected to stay updated on the class discord - which gets thousands of messages. Mouti does not take the necessary steps to ensure course accessibility.
Mouti is a good guy, despite the hard exam he gives. He is very accessible after lectures and replies to emails quickly. He gave lots of extra credit and curved up because of the difficult question in the exam. As long as you study hard, you will get an A. Go to office hours. He is willing to help every student.
