He's incredible! Such a sweet guy, and he totally relates to the students. His tests are easy as long as you pay attention and do the readings, which are actually kinda fun. TAKE HIS CLASS! You'll enjoy every minute of it!
I love this guy! One of the best GE classes. He is so enthusiastic about the subject that he can make anyone interested. There are weekly quizzes but if you actually do the reading or go to lecture (there is really no need to do both) they are really easy.
Best teacher i've encountered in 2 quarters at UCSB. Simply put, he rocks. His accent is cool and understandable, he sings for you, he is insanely passionate about what he speaks of, and he devotes lecture to clarifying readings...what more could you ask for? easy tests? he has those too!
He's a sweet old man who is passionate about the subject. Lectures are pointless because the just summarizes what the reading was. Easy class if you read the books.
So far so good, semi easy tests if you read the text...do it and you dont really even have to go to class a lot...
He is like a little grandpa! the weekly quizzes in section are a little annoying, but easy. Really great class, and Athanassakis makes you really interested in the subject. Definitely one of the easiest GE fulfillments at SB.

a very good and interesting teacher. his lectures are interesting and usually the lecture hall was pretty full. a pretty easy class. i'd definitely recommend this class.

Very passionnate about his work. What more can you ask for? Very clear, easy to follow, but most importantly, he teaches with passion! He makes me want to pay lots of money for good education!
I also had him for Classics 102 and what I love most about him is his PASSION! It's so addicting! He's one of the reasons I got into Classics!

loved him. interesting lectures, great sense of humor, fair on testing and grading. went to class every day because of this guy. i'd take him again in a heartbeat.
He started out great with clear lectures and easy midterm. But for the second part of the quarter he just read straight outta the book and his lectures pretty much got no where. Great guy and really nice though.

He is passionate about all subjects, and very open to your interpretation of the material. He encourges creative work. He is kind, patient, and always willing to discuss the material. Also, the fact that he's a poet comes through in his lectures!
