Love!!! This class was awesome and I learned a ton about Italian culture and the Renaissance. Lectures were somewhat all over the place but it's only because he is so smart and gets wrapped up in his own thoughts. Do the reading, write everything down from lecture and read it over for the tests and you'll do great. Piece of cake.
lecture all over the place, must attend class to do well on the exam..but it's ok because he's really nice to look at.
Although the class seemed rather long and boring, the lecture is interesting when you pay attention. Very deep and philosophical, so sometimes his explanations seem unclear to figure out some of the texts' meanings. But he is a great-hearted teacher. He understood my dilemma & worked with me for a better grade! Thank you!
very intelligent but rambles like crazy and says the same things over and over again. This class sucked because he completely misunderstood that it was an "italian culture" class and not an "italian renaissance" class - so all we did was a TON of horribly dry readings from the ren. Class made me want to kill myself, but it was relatively easy.
Wow, Maleuvre is amazing. Every one of his lectures was riveting, he is truly brilliant. You really need to attend every lecture and take copious notes on everything he says in order to well on the midterm and final. Doing the readings really helped me out as well, and they weren't too hard and were interesting as well.
This was the best class ever! Didier is absolutely adorable and made the material we read (which in itself wasn't always the most interesting) really cool. The class definitely made you think, and if you took good notes of more or less everything he said in class you could do the final and midterm easily. I <3 didier!
This was the best class ive ever taken!!I love didier and all of his ideas, he's truly inspiring to listen to! plus he's super hotttt!
He was great!
God, this class was a waste of time. It was all philosophical drivel that we were then forced to write word for word in our papers. The professor wouldn't allow any discussion or an opinion different from his. I thought a class on love would be fascinating - and it could have been - but after this I hated that word for a while after.
if you can keep up with dider's admittedly scatter-brained lectures and have a sincere interest in learning about love in a philosophical sense, then this class is god-given. it's engaging, intriguing, though-provoking and absolutely a pleasure to have taken. and didier is lovely and excited about what he does, and informed--not arrogant.
He really cannot articulate his thoughts. He says the same sentence in 8 different ways, but the SAME concept. Just not the class for him to teach.
He is boring & pretentious; he rambles, makes long awkward pauses, and if you don't agree with his idiotic ideas and notions in the essays, then you'll get a lower grade. If you are wise, you will stay out of his classes and away from his pure, unadulterated BS that he spews in his aloof, self-congratulatory, affected philosophical way.
He seems to have incredible ideas about love but has no way to articulate them. He makes up words and speaks in such a way that half the lecture goes over the student's heads. He doesn't really care what you have to say--just agree with him. Too pompous. Sure, he was handsome, but that's hardly enough to keep me interested for ten weeks.
Soooooo hot!!! Plus incredibly intelligent and really interesting. Go to his office hours...he is a very nice person and excited to meet his students. Not to mention eye candy!
Hot professor, very intelligent!
Best professor ever
This professor doesn't realize that he is teaching a LITERATURE class not philosophy. I used his class to take naps and got notes from someone and repeated word for word what he said in lecture in the midterm and final paper and got an A. Louis is Hilarious but not very helpful. That class was a joke.
He is a terrible professor with an attitude problem. He rambles on and on about the same ideas and isn't very open minded. the papers are easy as long as you use only his opinions. He is rude and wants every one to get a bad grade.
Who gives a damn about what the professor looks like? He gives awful lectures, pretends to ask for ideas from his students but only to shoot them down with his own opinions, and speaks as if the world confuses him. His random pop quizzes on stupid facts (like the # of freckles on Lolita's nose) don't help either.
Great class...very philosophical perspective of love. Lot of sex and perversion involved in this course. Just be sure to go to lecture or else you're screwed for the midterm and final. Louis is a hilarious T.A. Be sure to get him if he's available.
He may be good looking, but his personality is not the best. He gave us random pop quizzes, yabbers on and on, and is very unclear. He expects you to be ahead in the reading and memorize every mundane detail. Just repeat what he says in lecture in your papers and you'll do fine
Oh god... This man is soo sexy!!! With his accent and beautiful eyes... I went to lecture to see him, it made my day. The class was a little out there, very philosophical, lots of writing, I took it to get a new view on french film. Very interesting... and can i say again.. GOD IS HE HOT!!!!
I took this class last year and I still think about how hot he is!! He takes one central theme and ties it to every book so understand the theme and you're golden! I got an -A w/o reading a book but I went to every lecture (mainly to see his butt in those khakis)but pay close attention to the theme
Sa classe est tres philosphique. Son esprit est presque beau que son figure! Je vous assure qu'il est facile de tomber amoureuse avec ce prof!
