Lectures are slow and boring, class is fast-paced (that's just how 120A is). Do the homework and quizzes to stay caught up, and tests questions are literally pulled from these. There are multiple resources to prepare for tests and opportunities to make up for previous mistakes (could be the case for all 120A profs). Studying is a must

WORST PROFESSOR EVER! Im not sure why she hasnt been fired. Ive never gotten below a B in a class until this one. The issue is not my math skills because I easily got As in both math 34A and B. She screwed up both midterms by either being late or having typos in the equation sheet and answer options and did nothing to correct it. DONT TAKE THIS

Very boring lectures. She has a heavy accent so it's hard to understand her as it is, but she's also monotone and speaks fast. Not good at clarifying anything. Once some guy asked her how to tell the difference between normal distribution and binomial distribution, and she just replied, "It depends on the question" :/

This professor does everything possible to make the class harder than it needs to be. She doesn't require attendance but doesn't post her slides. The tests are so short that they penalize you for small errors. She is also unapproachable and generally a bad teacher.

Worsr teacher ever had. Dont know why ucsb hired her as a lecturer, I feel like being scammed by this college. She is unclear and has a strong accent, so hard to follow her. Never explaining things just keep finish writing her notes on her ipad for every lecture. Really really bad teacher.

This class is not hard. If you read the book and do the homework (with some additional problems such as the chapter quizzes for your own benefit) you WILL be fine. While a bit boring, lectures CAN be helpful; if you actually pay attention, its like getting a brief overview of what you will do for the readings and hw. People just like to complain

PSTAT LS isn't a terribly difficult class, but with this prof it makes my life quite more difficult. She's disorganized and monotone throughout lectures. If you're prone to sleep in class don't bother going to this one and just nap at home... This quarter she showed up to midterm 1 late & forgot to print enough formula sheets for everyone midterm 2

Bad organization, bad accent, hard to follow

Lecture is: "Okay, we give formula for chapter 5 today and do three example problems. If you have any questions, use online class program bulls#!t because I don't care." This course would be full-blown impossible without buying the textbook. I got a PDF of the 1st ed which didn't have the solutions or Appendix... she's zero help.

1 This professor's lectures are terrible. 2 Quizzes are in each section with 3 problems and doing one wrong means you get 75% on that. 3 You can't go back and double check your answers in the exams. 4 Problems on exams are like "you learn the concept of function f(x) in lecture but being asked the derivative of it in exam". BTW: 93% A. GoodLuck: )

I get why she has such harsh ratings, because she's not super enthusiastic/funny/outgoing/etc (she's actually very nice if you meet with her). But her lectures/expectations are SO clear and organized. Yeah she didn't curve the midterm, that's because the average was an 80. The joint 120A final had an avg of 50, and they curved to a 75. It was fair.

I like her teaching style compared to other professors, but I think she's more unfair when grading. She doesn't curve the midterm like the rest, and does not post the final exam grades online. She won't answer any questions about class averages or how much the curve is even after the final grades have been submitted to Gold.

I dont understand why everyone on here hates her so much, I thought she was great tbh. Sometimes she got annoyed answering dumb questions but who wouldnt. She gives good, clear notes from her iPad (which is really nice) and has reasonable expectations test-wise.

Average for the midterm was 67% and I actually got far below average. But the majority of the class voted to remove the midterm from the overall grade and made the final worth 70%. Luckily, the final was easier than the midterm bc it was very similar to weekly hw and the sample exams she provided.

Tests are hard but she is one of the best professors at UCSB. She will teach you what you need to pass but it's up to you to put in the time.

The final is pretty hard that even I went over all the stuff and think that I figured out all the problems. I still hardly passed this class.

Honestly, her reviews are a little harsh. Yes there was some bumps in the first part of the class, Spring 2018, but understandable when it's your first time teaching. At the end of the quarter things shaped up and the final was very fair. The material is tough so not reasonable to blame everything on the teacher. Would recommend this professor!

I went to a party the night before the first midterm (my bad) and got a D, but with the curve I ended up with a B. So idk if everyone else was on crack because it is not possible to have studied less than me. Not sure if she ACTUALLY curved in the end though so watch out for that. Basically everyone is confused so learn the material at home.

The WORST professor I have ever had. Completely unenthusiastic about teaching her students and does not appear to want you to succeed. You will have better luck learning stats on Kahn Academy

You will have to teach yourself. Do HW. Lectures were not very helpful. Did not write her exams until the day before, so she did not provide review topics or questions. Inadvertently made one form of the first midterm considerably more difficult than the other. Not a good teacher. Unresponsive to students. Unclear expectations. Disorganized.

by far the worst teacher I've ever had, high school included. Genuinely seems like she does not care about any of her students, it barely seems like she even cares about the subject of statistics. tests tended to include things that were never covered, and exclude the main topics. Spent hours teaching myself the whole class just to get a bad grade

Worst professor I have had at UCSB. Not only is her accent impossible to understand in lecture, she also teaches the bare minimum and then tests on things that were never gone over in lecture/section. Overall a terrible experience would not recommend.

Pretty ridiculous that the only real study material for the class is in the textbook and it either cost $200+ on amazon at the beginning of the quarter (not at bookstore) or is fully checked out at the library during finals week...
