Amazing lecturer, willing to help you with anything that you have trouble. Just make sure you're on top of the content and get help when needed. The TAs are also super helpful with homework and any questions that you have.
He is amazing and cares about his students. He tries his best to get people into the major and good interactive lectures. The tests are hard because the economics department imposes a curve, which is not his fault. I would recommend having him as your professor.
The test are tough but he lets you know that right off the bat. His lectures are cool and he makes it interesting with stories, which is huge because this material can be boring at times. Definitely one of the best Acct professors Ive had at UCSB. The curve in the class is fairly generous so it makes up for the difficulty.
Scott definitely knows what he is talking about and his lectures are pretty straightforward. The exams are hard, there's no other way to put it. Going to lecture helps a lot, as exam material is really whatever he talks about it in class. He even told us a few times specific concepts that would be on tests. Very good guy, relatable as well.
I loved Fulkerson, he makes lectures incredibly helpful and not boring. Section nor lecture is mandatory but both will help you do well in the class. The tests and homework are pretty damn hard but I feel like I learned a lot. He curves the entire class with the econ curve and lets you know where you stand after the 2nd midterm.
Amazing professor honestly. The material is difficult, but he does a good job explaining and making things clear. Make sure to do a lot of practice problems. Would love to take him again!
Scott is a nice guy. He explains the context well and is experienced in the accounting field himself. Readings really help you understand the concepts so remember to read 'em.
Fulkerson is definitely one of the best professors at UCSB. He is good at explaining accounting stuff clearly and teaching real-life experiences in his lectures. 3 hard exams, make sure you did Wiley practices and book questions. Go to his honor section if you can, you will learn a lot. A true maestro and I will go to his classes in the future.
Prof Fulkerson is a really interesting guy here. He makes his lectures full of fun and knowledge. 3 exams in total, they are hard, no lie. But he will give you a lot of tips and some questions in lectures, so be careful.
insane curve
Scott was easily my favorite professor at all of UCSB, especially in the Economics department. Yes his tests are hard, yes the homework is hard, but if you are in the accounting major then this class will teach you the sort of time you need to put in to succeed. He is extremely caring and for future students he does not post his lectures SO GO!!!
Professor Fulkerson is probably the best professor in the economics department. His lectures are really insightful and Fulkerson doesn't mind cracking a joke every now and then. I really enjoyed 3B and strongly encourage economic students to take his class.
Overall, Prof. Fulkerson is really chill and knows a lot about accounting. However, be prepared to put in the time for his classes, because the final exam for Econ 3B was difficult to say the least. Nevertheless, if you get the opportunity to take one of Prof. Fulkerson's classes, do it because you'll learn a lot about accounting and the concepts.
Very bad and rude as well.
Fulkerson is a fantastic lecturer. He talks about his past experience in EY and that's actually interesting. There are three exams. The final is pretty hard and only around 10% of people can get an A. So, getting high scores in the first two is crucial. All important stuff is from lectures, he will tell you which part will be tested,
His lectures are super super super instructive along with many fun stories related to the knowledge or in his life. Clear course organization that if you follow his path, you won't fail this class. Mark my words. 10/10. Would take any of his accounting classes again.
Class is boring, but tests aren't too bad. Go to lecture and he'll basically give you test questions. Class is curved, but very lenient.
Bad professor. Rude and mean.
Took Fulkerson this past fall q and was shocked by all the negative reviews. Truly a gem, especially in the con department. Attending lecture is important because he will often give exact answers to the test. Additionally, he makes the tests at the beginning of the the quarter so all of his lectures teach for the test. Class is graded on a curve :(
He is not there for you although he pretends to be.
Attending lectures is useless and the section is useless. I went to office hours and he doesn't care about his students. Also, the TA's don't even explain correctly and always mess up on problems. He gives you hints to what is on the test but it's never even on the tests so don't bother writing it down.
I took this class in person after COVID. He did not care that a majority of his students had never attended a real lecture hall or taken a real test in person in college. He constantly told our class we were doing worse than the previous quarter which was online and hearing from those kids they had chegg to look up the test answers.
Professor Fulkerson is a really good professor. He worked at E & Y so he is able to give students lots of insight about potential careers and the field in general. He gives really constructive responses to academic questions and he will put effort into email responses. His lectures are not boring since he breaks down all the technical stuff well.
I liked my time with Scott. 132A was the only class I took with him, but I found it straightforward and educational. There are 2 tests in the course and no finals week exam. The rest of the grade is from HW and the audit simulations. I found the sims hard at first, but valuable in showing what a real audit is like. He's pretty funny too. SCOTT GOAT
