Hulme is dope. Exams are exactly like handouts reviewed in class. If you do all of the handout problems, homework, and brief exercises with understanding WHY you take each step, you're golden. CAUTION: 2/3 of weight of exams is on free response and she is critical. One small mistake and you lose huge points. Tons of extra credit
Easily one of the best lecturers. Really knowledgeable and gives straightforward and thorough explanations that helps you understand the material well. As long as you do problems clearly the way she teaches it and review all the practice she gives, you'll do well in her classes. Chances for extra credit if you attend lecture and listen for it.
Professor Hulme is an amazing professor. Her lectures, explanations, and exams are very straightforward and organized. As long as you pay attention in lecture, practice the in-class problems, and maintain good format in your answers, you should fare well. She is also incredibly kind and very willing to help students with academic and career stuff!
If you guys want to get a good grade and save gpa, I suggest u guys to take other professor's 136 classes. To be honest, she may be a good and nice guy, but her 136 classes are not friendly.
still don't know why she's the only professor for 136b and there's no section for it lol
If u wanna save ur GPA, do not take her classes. Save GPA and Save the world.
This prof is kind of hard. In her class, the grade would not be curved. It is hard to get a good grade. if you wanna get a C, you have to get 72% of the total score. Do not take her classes. Cuz I really want u to get a good grade. avoid her.
I took Professor Hulme's ECON 136B and C in the past quarters. I really love her teaching style and the way she organizes lectures. She is available through email as well as by appointment. I think that she is definitely the best Accounting Professor in UCSB and I would strongly recommend you all to take her class!!!!
1. She has her own sassy ATTITUDE 2. A LOT of extra credit opportunities 3. Midterm 1 easy, Midterm 2 failing, Final easy 4. Well organized lecture, clear about what will be tested 5. GET ready for her class since she is super smart, she passed all CPA exams in a week :)
Her lecture is not boring and do teach you what will be on the test. The practice had in class will be what occurs in test. Although her un curved grading criteria seems strict but at last, it comes out the rational distribution of grades. my friends said she is condescending like she said she passed the 4 cpa tests in a month but that's ok for me.
Hulme is an amazing professor. I had her for both 136B,C and received an A in both also. She is smart, sharp, and caring. The class is difficult and expects you to know the material well but she actually teaches and lets you know exactly what to know for the exams! She also gives out EC. It was a pleasure having her for 2 quarters.
She is intelligent, hardworking and knowledgeable. She encourages class participation, wants students to do well and challenges them. If you take her honor section you'll enjoy getting to know her. She is open to feedback (she reads the evaluations and takes them into consideration). The WP HW is very helpful. It was a pleasure to have her twice.
Prof. Hulme is straight-forward and clear with what she's going to test you on. If you go to class, do the homework, and read then you'll be set! There's plenty of opportunities for extra credit and in-class interaction.
The exam is covered by class material very well. We can know what we are supposed to know. It is really good for preparing the exam. Good and solid professor!
Professor Hulme is a great lecturer and her tests are fair/similar to the handouts she gives in class, so make sure you know how to do these well. Lecture slides make sense of the book, try to read them before. She's readily available in her OHs and she cares about her students. She wants you to succeed and it was helpful going to her w/ questions.
Good Professor. Her class is very straightforward, if you do the reading and the in-class handouts you will do great. She is helpful during office hours and is always willing to answer questions. She also offers a boost from B+ to A- if you attend all the lectures and are right on the cusp. Overall a very good professor!
The class and exams are very straight forward. She explained everything in lectures and are very approachable. The exams are very similar to the examples she hands out in class. Problems are very "practical" not so much theory. Sometimes tests are a little long but definitely doable if you are prepared. Overall she is an awesome professor.
Hulme is fine in that she sticks to the material and follows the powerpoint. But she has 2 policies that simply don't make sense to me. First, she doesn't curve which is flat out stupid. She also has a stupid wiley policy that makes doing homework frustrating and stressful. Overall she does the minimum. I'd take Lisa Gray or Harmon instead.
Nice Professor, goes through some practice problem in the lecture which is helpful for the exams! She tried her best to explain the questions from students, it's really helpful! I would like to take her 136c!
Homework: 15%, 2 Midterms: 50% and Final: 35%. Tests are 1/3 multiple choice and 2/3 short answers. For multiple choice read the textbook and for short answer practice the in-class assignments and problems on Wiley. Taking her again for 136C.
The material is a bit harder than 136A, but definitely doable. What made this class difficult was the fact that Hulme made the tests very long. Professor Hulme is has 2 hours of office hours a week and rarely accepts appointments. Hulme does not make it clear how the class will be graded. She actually says things like "I can grade however I like" .
Prof Hulme is condescending and contradicting. She does this thing where she will post an example exam (midterm/final) on Wiley a day before the exam which are considerably harder than the example problems she lectures with. She won't tell you whether or not the class is going to be curved and what the averages are. Avoid her and save your GPA.
Amazing professor. Try her best to help students. Attendance is not mandatory, but she goes through practice example in lectures, which are VERY similar to problems on tests. Homework is helpful in understanding the material and preparing for the test, also easy points that count toward fair amount of final grade. Would recommend her for 136 series
Unclear and doesn't understand how students learn. Continuously uses textbook definitions (doesn't explains difficult concepts in a way students would understand) and doesn't give easy to understand or realistic examples for concepts. Goes over example problems in class too fast. Makes the tests hard. Only accounting professor that I've hated
