HULME J L
Awful. Exams are FRQ heavy and mainly consist of a few questions. Slides, lectures, and handouts did not help me much on the exam. No curve! Take Harmon instead.
If you are in btwn Harmon and Hulme take Hulme. They are both great professors, but Hulme teaches the class so well that you will inherently do better on the tests and the material will actually stick with u for the CPA and such.
hypocrite , arrogant, racism. it seems like Amercian school employ people to be a teacher doesn't scale moral stanard. I had to take her class again, cos I need to graduate on time. But I never attendent her lecture .B+. (Last quarter I never miss any lecture, just B.) Cos I will vomit when encountering disgusting people or things. avoid it
hypocrite , arrogant, racism, using pale excuses. She was the most difficult person who i met. I don't think she's qualifid to be a teacher. I will posit what was happened on reddit. include all the email with her. she pretend to be nice and tell students she's nice to them, but students can feel it wheather your nice is truth or pretented.
The grade distribution is 25% midterm one, 25% midterm two, 35% final, 15% homework. The homework is due before you even learn about the chapter which doesn't make sense at all. The tests are really similar to the handouts, but the time is TIGHT on midterm 2. If you get a bad grade on one test, you're screwed. No curve!
If you go to lectures, take notes, and read/skim the textbook getting an A in these classes is very straightforward. She simplifies hard concepts and only tests questions she has shown in class. However, if you struggle with FRQs steer clear as 75% of your test grades are based on them.
Prof Hulme is one of the best accounting professors at UCSB. She makes complex accounting stuff seem simple and doable. She lays out exactly what is expected of her students, and as long as you follow her instructions and complete hw you're set for a good grade. She's very patient in her OH, and it is a great resource for career advice as well
Professor Hulme is probably the best Accounting professor at UCSB. She should be teaching more classes, including the lower divisions, I wish that I had taken her classes sooner! Her lectures are good and easy to follow, she does a good job explaining things. Tests are challenging but very doable since she covers every type of question in class.
No clear guidelines on how to succeed in course. No practice exams or questions given to prep for exam and discourages using the textbook as a study tool. Speeds through slides, too much content in such a short time. A LOT of HW on WP. I have met folks that failed her class. She's nice but even peers warn you to steer clear, now I am warning you.
I took 136B and C with her and it's tough but doable. Go to lecture pay attention, do the homework, and practice the in class handouts over and over to prep for test as I believe 2/3 of the test is the short answer that she usually takes from those. She is a bit abrasive when answering questions at times, but class is doable.
Took Econ 136 B&C with prof.Hulme. She is literally one of the BEST lecturers in UCSB, making those hard accounting concepts more understandable and interesting. Her class is full of helpful examples and the test is straightforward. She is also kind and helpful. After class, she never get tired of questions, and really think for her students.
Took 136B and 136C with Hulme and it was not a pleasant experience. Could seem pretentious at times. Lectures were okay but pretty boring and listening could be difficult especially when the materials get harder in 136C.
