Van der Veen tries to teach, but her lectures are dull and her physics demos are unhelpful. She craves for attention and will halt lecture if she notices even one person looking at their phone. I took AP Physics, so this class wasn't difficult for me. However, her teaching style is atrocious, and she doesn't even post grades on GauchoSpace. Avoid.

She gives out iClicker points and extra credit for participation in her little demos during lecture. Overall this class was formatted horribly if you have never taken physics, so get read to learn it all on your own. Her lectures are extremely unclear and she doesn't seem to know what she is doing half of the time. If you took AP Physics, u good.

It's a bit hard to rate this professor. I think that the problem is the course. You are forced to go to lecture because iClicker points but all she does is relatively unhelpful demonstrations and problems that you have already had to complete for HW. She also is not particularly good at explaining how to solve the problems. She never realy teaches.

To me this class was review, but there was less content overall compared to my high school class. Van der Veen knows a lot about physics, but she doesn't know how to teach. She demands attention to the point where she stops lecture for the attention of 1 student. Very smart person, not a very good "teacher." Section is easy, just show up (or not).
