One of the best professors at UCSB. Dude was friendly and gave us candy to keep us awake during class. 10/10

One of the nicest professors at UCSB, i had him my very first quarter here and he made the giant lecture halls a little less intimidating, section is important, but the midterm & final were multiple choice

I enjoyed attending this class. Even though he posts the lectures on gauchospace, it doesn't mean that you should skip class because he elaborates in lecture. If you want an A, you should attend class. He is strict, but he is very nice and very approachable. The sections go by fast so they're not boring. There is a lot of reading.

History 2A is one of the easiest classes I've ever taken! Sure, lectures can be a bit boring and drawn out but as long as you somewhat pay attention in lecture and skim through the readings, the midterm and final will be super easy. The two papers are graded quite easily as well.

Solid professor and relatively easy GE. Kegerreis is very knowledeable about history, although lectures are a bit dense at times. Lecture attendance is not mandatory and slides are posted on GauchoSpace. Midterm and final are easy, multiple-choice tests. Two papers, 800 and 1800 respectively. Key to an A is section participation.

Great teacher, but long lectures and dense material. His lecture-heavy classes are fast, but important for doing well on his tests. Get to know your TA and participate in section (they are responsible for a large chunk of your grade). Read the course reader and take diligent notes to succeed! Kegerreis is a knowledgeable, caring, and solid prof.

Solid GE. Professor K knows everything there is to know about Ancient Greece. Lectures require diligent note taking, but he provides you with key terms and questions to help on the tests. 1 reader (under $25) & 2 fairly short essays. Currently taking his 111b udiv and it's obvious that he really cares about his students and wants us to have fun.

Lectures have a lot of information, but are usually interesting. Tests are all multiple choice and are fairly easy as long as you take good notes and don't skip class. Most important tip in my opinion is to get close with your TA at section because they are responsible for half of your grade (essays and partipation) as well as grade adjustments.

I'm generally good at history but I don't think this class was that hard. As long as you attend the lectures and take good notes you should be fine. Know the readings for the tests. Kegerreis is really passionate, wait til you get to the Peloponnesian War and Alexander the Great. Missing even one lecture sets you back pretty far.

He posts his slides online, but they are not helpful at all. His lecture style is boring and he crams a ton of information into a short amount of time. You will miss important info if you zone out for a few minutes. The material itself is fairly interesting. The tests are pretty difficult, but the essays aren't too bad.

Kegerreis knows what he's talking about & is a solid choice. Lectures are info-packed but thats a given for history. If you're a good writer, TAKE THIS CLASS bc there's 2 papers graded easy. Most lecture material aren't mentioned on exam so read all assigned readings. Attend all TA sections bc participation is 15% of ur grade. Good class overall.

Interesting lectures but a lot of material. Tests were difficult but if you study lecture notes you'll be fine. 3 exams and 2 papers. He was helpful in office hours.

Kegerreis. Is. Thee. Most. Boring. Lecturer. Ever. 2 midterms, 2 papers, 1 final. You take notes in lecture then look back & have no idea how things correlate to one another, very confusing. Readings were tedious, ancient, & hard to read. I'm a history major & I hated this class. Could've been good material. He was just a bad lecturer. DON'T TAKE.

Lecture content is interesting, but the professor, while very informative, speaksand in a monotone voice. Be prepared to take a lot of notes and do a good amount of reading. His course reader included many ancient essays and readings and was interesting, you go over the readings in section which is very useful in understanding. Would recommend.

Prof Kegerreis is very well oriented in terms of history, but this class crams FAR TOO MUCH into one quarter (about 3000+ years). Lectures are intense and it is VERY hard to catch all info necessary without typing. Tests are VERY FAIR and he is nice enough to grade on a generous curve and reuses old exam questions a lot and posts answers to them:)

HIST2A . 8 Years Ago

No textbook, but there is a reader. 2 papers. 2 midterms. 1 final. Lecture is interesting and helpful for writing papers. All exams are multiple choice. They are somewhat cumulative since he takes some questions from previous midterms. Post midterm answers online. Mandatory attendance to sections with active participation for points. Hard class.

Professor Kegerreis is knowledgeable and his lectures are informing and interesting to anyone with an interest in the subject. History majors enjoy and do well in this class, non majors generally struggling with tests and papers. 2 papers and 3 exams so not the best GE, but if you are a hist major be sure to take a class with prof Kegerreis.

Well spoken understands Hellenistic Greece. The readings are tough to get through and requires a pretty in-depth reading journal. The tests however are fairly easy if you pay attention to the lectures and focus on the readings. The essays were fair and I passed the class. Very difficult taking two classes during six weeks - stick to just one

Not a bad teacher, necessarily. Easy-ish grader. Packs way too much info into lecture and expects you to keep up on reading through a daily journal (reading 10-20 pages a day, writing the same) plus a paper, don't take if you procrastinate. Tests are multiple choice and draw heavily from the readings. Easy to get overwhelmed, but he helps a lot.
