The prof was my favorite part about the class. I always left inspired because of the way he saw life. It left me thinking. Besides that, the class was easy. If you pay attention in lecture, the midterm/final exams will go smoothly. There is also a creative paper assignment to do which wasn't too bad because it is about your life.

Took his class this past summer, I enjoyed the material and the touching conversations we had. Prof. Ralph and TA's were very understanding and definitely recommend reaching out to him. For summer 2020 we had 3 papers and weekly discussion post. A is very doable! Pay attention to instructions when writing those essays.

Im a Chicana. Loved it. Had no classes like this in HS. Was going to take it later but glad I took it sooner. Mid,Paper,Sec Part,Fin-All make you thinkple

Alright so there aren't any textbooks, but he does have you read some books. They aren't boring, so they were easy to read! Make sure to attend lectures!! This class was one of the best I have taken so far, and I'm glad I took it with him 'cause he is such a passionate, caring man. The GOAT!

Was excited to take this class w Ralph but soon enough I was so over it. This guy is ridiculous! Cries every other day, constantly preaching about Christ, had nothing to do with Chicanao Studies, and basically forced us into doing a "social movement" on campus. He really needs to know where his boundaries are and when not to cross over.

Undeniably a well-meaning person, but is far too emotionally unstable to be considered a competent professor. Did very little objective teaching, and lectures/materials/exams were all over the place. Class was not structured, grading expectations were consistently unclear, and Ralph would cry during class on a weekly to semi-weekly basis. Avoid.

I agree he is very passionate but he's not a good teacher. He taught with his heart rather than his brain which led him to be rude and biased. He did not accept anyone's opinion if it was not similar to his. Horrible class and horrible professor.

He is very passionate about what he teaches and really knows his stuff. He cried every Thursday. Read the books, they're not that bad. Easy A

very passionate teacher about social justice. he gets really into his lectures and puts himself on the verge of tears. no need to take notes in class. just listen to what he has to say and read the books and you should do fine. all about class unity and a different kind of classroom environment. wants to make you passionate about social issues

I took his black and brown metropolis and forgot the course number so I just put 1A. this guy is a tough grader, but a great professor, and for some reason he always talking about something called "a nikokoya." i don't know, it was weird. He's a good author too.

One of the greatest people ive had the pleasure to meet, a wonderful human being who cares about what he teaches and cares about those he teaches. He will challange you to think outside the box and more importantly to work to crate change outside the box.

more than a prof- he's a teacher. i was at ucsb before ralph and graduated after his arrival- he revolutionized the major and opened our eyes to the global picture and how chicano studies fits in it. a prof u must take.
