Don Lubach is an extremely thoughtful, caring, and sharp guy. His class was always energetic and teaches you so much about life and college. Amazing person and super informative class.
Lubach has great guests for the lectures that I enjoyed. There are a bunch of assignments but as long as you follow the guidelines it'll be an A.
this was a really really really easy and fun class. a class for you to make friends as a new transfer. a gem and must take at ucsb to raise gpa.
Lubach is a great professor who cares about his students and UCSBs standards and morals. His class has easy assignments just make sure you do them as is asked. Lots of people dont go to lecture but I always enjoyed them.
Every year Lubach somehow manages to make this class harder and harder. Do not take this class if you have other more difficult courses.
He is trying to make this class harder and harder as time goes. Had to attend many unnecessary events (Id rather spend my time on studying). To be honest, I dont even know what Im learning. This is a pointless, but relatively easy class. The only thing that determines if this class is easy or hard is your discussion leader and co-leader.
Great class to take as an transfer! Youre given a lot of resources on campus and the class isnt difficult. Theres a good amount of busy work but you can get through it quick!
Don is a really awesome guy, and this class is an awesome class. I am thankful I took it because I really did learn a lot about UCSB that is beneficial as a transfer student. It also is a nice opportunity to meet lots of other transfer students. You are required to attend events, which is really helpful and beneficial in getting involved.
He doesnt do much, so your grade in this class is submitted by your TA. Just do the work all on time and you will get an A no problem. If youre not liberal you may feel uncomfortable in this class, but just do the work and youll get the A.
Sweetest professor there is. This was an overall easy class. You have to attend 3 events on campus, write a final proposal, do a group project, and some writing assignments here and there. Pretty easy class if you don't mind writing! He's sweet and caring and he makes his students feel comfortable and welcomed. Wish he taught more classes! Love him
Get ready to write papers!! 5 writing assignments, 3 experiential activities reflections, 1 final paper (7 pages). But those papers are SUPER easy to write!! I really enjoyed the class and doing all those assignments! Professor Lubach is also very approachable and nice!!! STRONGLY recommend taking this class!!!
Want an easy A? Sign up for this class. There is a good amount of work that you have to do, but most of it is trivial almost busy work that requires little to no effort. Don is hilarious, but some of the lectures are dull. The textbook is expensive so don't buy, just go to the library and use the one on reserve for when you need it.
Intro to University is a great class to take!! It is only offered to freshman, and I highly suggest to take this class; it's all about survival skills and tips to getting around the campus and how to succeed in college. There is a good chunk of reading, but it's not so bad and you do have to go out and attend events so participation is key.
One of my favorite teachers. He is so sweet. I took this class for an easy A while taking harder classes. It is a lot of busy work but so worth it. Plus, it really gets you more involved with the school by attending different events and job fairs. This class made me realize exactly what I wanted to do with my career by talking to people at events.
Clear lecture.
Don is cool/lectures are easy bc he has a guest speaker each week. However, this class has so many tedious and time consuming assignments. I found myself doing more work for this class than for any of my other classes. The assignments aren't rocket science but they also aren't super easy. This class needs improvement
Lubach is great, but always has a guest lecture. Weekly writing assignments due, a group project and a final paper, which you must complete in order to get a good grade. A lot of work for a transfer class, do not take for an easy A. attendance is required
While I felt that the content of the class was a little dry, I think Don was a great lecturer who made lectures interesting and fun. There is weekly homework but I didn't have much trouble with that; just complete your assignments on time and with some effort and you will do fine.
I would highly recommend this class if you are looking to balance out your schedule with a less demanding course. Granted, there are several assignments you have to complete, but most if not all of them have to do with your personal experiences at UCSB and elsewhere.
Class was extremely boring, and you have to work for an A. The assignments tend to be relative to personal life so it is easier. I thought this class was pretty useless. There are readings, a final paper, and a presentation (really really easy). If you have no choice then you should take this class otherwise find something useful.
I took ED 118 in the fall and was also in the LEAP section. It's a great class as long as you show up and do all of your assignments well.
Professor Lubach is a great lecturer! In EDU 118, he didn't do too much of the lecturing as he had many guest speakers so lecture is never the same. Lots of writing in the class, a lot of activities you have to do, but overall the class is helpful for transfers and easy to get an A in. No books required, just prepare to write!
Enthusiastic, sweet teacher! Wants you to succeed! Take him! This class is great for anyone!
You have a writing assignment every week for this class but it is super easy. Lubach is really nice and awesome to talk to. I wish he would lecture more rather than have guest lecturers every week. If you get the opportunity, take a class with him. He is funny and the class is super relaxed.
