Horror films-- wow this guy is crazy. loves freud. lectures are all over the place and went right over most ppl's heads. the movies are cool, but i didnt understand half the sh*t that came outta this dudes mouth. he is a vampire!

Grade mostly from 1 midterm + final (essays). A bit goes to a Vampire Blog (~2 entries per week). Many in-class movies. Read a lot of Freud. As long as you keep up w/ reading (remember basic summaries of each + author + title) & how it connects to themes he emphasizes in class and go to lectures, tests are simple. You'll find all answers in class.

best class ever. you will have no clue what is going on but will learn something somehow. you will do well if you go to class, guarenteed.

to those who rated ger. 182 poorly: get an imagination! this class was kind of gay, (maybe), but u def. learned some interesting stuff associated with vampires and demons now! cool medieval stuff that gets ur mind off of things! and rickels was way too convoluted..but a chill guy. so stop givin this class bad ratings. i twas chill!

First, let me say that I did get a good grade int hsi class, so I'm not just complaining. Rickles is creepy. He is a geek with authority. He spends too much time talking about cult classic films instead of focusing on the novels, stories, and academic articles he piles on students. He gave this strange/vague assignment to make a vampire weblog.

this class was the easiest class ever. just go to class and repeat what you hear on the final. you do not have to read all of the books. just pay attention to him if you can

This class is uncannily easy. All you need to have is an opinion on your paper, midterm and final. A total of 3 opinions will get you a B+ in this class. It is unpossible to fail this class. You don't need to read the books. Reading are for suckers.

Beware, though this class sounds fun and interesting, it actually is a huge drag. He's an incredibly smart man, but his lectures don't have any structure and it drove me insane. There is a LOT of reading as well. At almost every lecture, I would hear people leaving in utter confusion. His midterm and final was easy enough though.

His dog rules. His class wasn't that bad. He is a cool guy, and he is approachable. Lectures were as if Socrates was talking to us - he used very, very abstract or deep language. Overall a pretty chill class. I liked it!

Prof. was a total fruitcake, he actually believes all of Freud's theories! The entire class was about the Oedipal desire for your parent and castration. I did like the stories in the reader and the assigned books, but the lectures sucked! I spent all of my time trying to figure out what the hell he meant, finally I stopped questioning everything

what a ****ing joke. What's even a greater joke are the TA's grading the class.

Absolutely the worst class i have ever taken. The teacher talks out o fhis ass and pretends to be smart. I don't know how this class was ever allowed to be a college level class and it should be removed from teaching forever. The teacher is a freak.

I enjoyed the class but not so much him. He has some wacked out theories. But as long as you buy into them and read his book, you should do fine.

ummm- I'm pretty sure he made up some words. Don't really understand the class. He had a cool dog though

some new words i learned in this class: SYMPTOMITIZE (lol), DEMONIZATION, VAMPIRISM, AND SO FORTH.

i'm currently in this guy's class and i don't understand a word that comes outta his mouth. he lectures in a weird way. every1 else i asked also couldn't comprehend him. what is he saying? he is weird. and man is he boring. its a lil too early rite now 4 me 2 b ratin him, but so far, he is def. awkward, and the class sucks. seriously. UGGH!!!

Don't let Rickels' ratings about how easy he is fool you. It's true that it's insanely easy to pass his class, but he is UNBELIEVABLY intelligent and interesting. I think he purposely makes the grading in his class so easy because otherwise no one would take his classes. They're extremely complex and thoughtful, far too abstract and philosophical than what most students are looking for. I honestly think 99% of what he says is over everyone's heads, but if you get it, you'll LOVE it.
