Speaks fast in lecture, tests are worded a bit confusingly, but a really intelligent and nice guy who is an extremely fair grader/person. I thoroughly enjoyed both his classes and got A's without an exceeding amount of work. I definitely recommend taking a class from him.

He was a big goober with this class. If you have him for this class, GO TO CLASS. he says very specific things about the reading AND THEY WILL BE IN THE TEST. Grade = midterm (25%) final (25%) discussion paper (40%) and one page paper (10%). He offers extra credit but they are often lectures. Paper was very open ended, but fun. Test were tricky.

Very smart man, with interesting ideas, however it can be very difficuly to understand what he is trying to say due to the overblown/loquatious verbiage!! His tests are VERY detailed, and hard to understand even if you've read! Speaking of which, TOO MUCH READING! (5 NOVELS AND A RATHER LARGE READER!) Not my style

An eloquent speaker with a voice made for radio, Gunn is one of the smartest professors I've had so far in college. However, he can be convoluted and his pride gets in the way sometime.

Midterm, Final, Section, and Book Notes (which is great, you get your reading done AND they count for more then the tests) Gunn is awesome, I loved him, and always checks for understanding. Class does involve a TON of writing in lecture, but the notes are vital. Wording on tests is difficult, but totally doable.

Gunn is a really intelligent man and I learned a lot in this class. You have to write your arm off in class if you try to write down all of his power point slides. Try to get Michael Jerryson for your TA and you'll be golden. Wording on the tests is really difficult, don't be afraid to ask for help during the tests...

Interesting Class certainly learned alot but lectures can be long and boring and you hate to write the entire time. goes really fast through slides and most of the time just reads what is on the slide. seems like he's been using the same material since the 80s but it has a great curve because his test can be really hard and questions can be really

His class would be way more interesting if you didn't have to kill your arm writing notes. In general, I think he is an intriguiging person/class, but it is difficult with the way the tests are set up. The tests are like SAT style/multiple choice. The reading notes are pretty easy.

Interesting class, introduces you to concepts and ideas you may never have really thought about before. Definantly some interesting/not so interesting material covered. Tests were moderately difficult. He lectures wayy too fast. bring your lap top if you want to get all the notes accurately. Study lecture more than readings.

After dreading this class I actually found it quite interesting. The lectures are very fast paced and he does use a lot of big words, but discussions clear up a lot of confusion. His tests are primarily from lecure, and you only have to know the main points from readings and write a brief paragraph for each (account for 40% of your grade!) Not bad.

His power point presentations are very helpful, but he does fly by them. Nobody really asksquestions beause he seems intimidating, yet is really a pretty cool professor. Midterm and grading not bad at all

This teacher is an ENGLISH proefssor. NOT a global professor. He should not teach about global studies because he has very skewed vision of the world.

poor gunn. he seems like a sweet old man but his lectures are ridiculously fast paced with ungodly amounts of text on each slide...yet it seems to say nothing when you go back over it. i dunno, seems like he should just stick to english because he got caught up in using big words rather than talking about anything worthwhile. not a hard class in the end , though i've never looked at the clock so many times in any class

As chair of the global studies of the department(which I personally think should be abblebaum) he is pretty boring. His class is not intellectually stimulating, expect to relearn high school history. But mostly, its an easy class.

His powerpoint presentations for lectures are very long and he talks too fast. The midterm and final are only worth 20% and are relatively easy if you do the reading. Reading notes are super easy to do. If you go to section and do decent on the tests im sure you will get at least a B.

Gunn is an extremely smart man, and he knows what he's talking about. The speed of is lectures are very fast paced, but if you are an efficient note-taker, it shouldn't be a problem. He is very passionate yet opinionated about the material.

His lectures are so boring, and we read Moby Dick for 3 full weeks. Uses too much plot summary in his lectures.

If you wanna take a two hour nap take Gunns class, but I just didnt even bother going to class because it was not even worth it. I spent my 2 hours tanning and reading the book. Also, he thinks he knows everything and denounces you if you disagree with him. Did happen to me, but he felt stupid cause

I had him in a freshman seminar and seriously if you said something he didn't agree with he would just give you that look like your a moron. He was kinda an ****. He tried to be nice but i don't think he could supress the inner critic.

Has a great passion for his subject,I thought the class was easy with too much summary in his lectures, but it is usually too huge a course for any good discussions, but a kind &,empathetic man with a lot of interesting things to say Good paper topics too.

Taught class with much enthusiasm and grace. Papers and exams were creative. Don't know why people who take his freshman class are denouncing him. Gunn is a genius!
