I love Claudia/Prof Tyler! I haven't had her for any EEMB or ENV lectures, but I have had her as a professor in a few CCS BIO classes. She is extremely generous and loves make her lectures and classes relevant to what is going on at the moment. She is also very fast at responding to emails. I will definitely try to take more classes with her again!
Claudia is an amazing professor and I highly recommend her! The grade is based on weekly quizzes, assignments/participation in section, and a group presentation done in section. No midterm or final. The class is really interesting and stress-free. Lecture attendance is not mandatory but I-clicker attendance gives you extra credit
Dr. Tyler is one of the sweetest professors at this school. She seriously tries her best to help student succeed in her courses and she truly understands what everyone is going through. I strongly recommend that you take one of her courses.
Professor Tyler is my favorite professor I have ever had. She is so kind and so enthusiastic and truly cares about the material and her students. Protect her at all costs!! Class is interesting and not hard but rewarding and I learnt a lot.
Professor Tyler has done an amazing job of making her class accommodating during the pandemic. She really cares about her students' learning and is really just a great professor. Highly recommend!
This prof is literally so sweet and so genuinely understanding of the current pandemic situation. The class was graded solely on weekly quizzes (noncumulative) that were really simple and short, as well as weekly activities in section that were also easy and short. I feel like she actually wants students to succeed and learn in her class. A GEM!!!
She's my favorite UCSB lecturer. So kind and energetic. Her lecturing charisma is seriously unmatched. Tries so, SO hard to give everyone A's. The class is a crash course of our human-induced environmental science problems and potential solutions.
Dr. Tyler's the most adorable and charismatic speaker. Up close, she's warm and nurturing. She makes this class extremely doable and literally wants to give everyone an A. The class is also loaded with EC opportunities. The material is super relevant to our environmental issues today.
Maybe, instead of asking if she's a good enough professor for you, you should be asking if you're good enough for her. You cherish her.
Tyler is an amazing teacher. Her class is tested based on attendance in section and midterms. She gives you the questions used on the study guide so if you can fill in the study guide you are guaranteed an A. That being said you should go to lecture as her slides only have pictures so the study guide is easier to fill out with your own notes.
Professor Tyler is one of my favorite professor's at UCSB. Her passion and enthusiasm keep lectures interesting. She made me so much more knowledgeable and aware of conservation science. Guest speakers were awesome! 10/10 would take a class with her again
prof tyler is an amazing lecturer!! even though not all her info is on the slides, she's super funny and easy to follow in lecture. she really cares about her students and does her best to help everyone succeed. section assignments counted for 40% of the class so there wasn't as much pressure on the exams, and the material was super interesting.
This quarter, we only had one midterm and a final. Section assignments were 40% of the grade. Professor Tyler is so fun and one of my favorite professors I've had at UCSB. She makes the material funny and interesting and she is very passionate about ecology. Tests were based on the questions at the end of lecture. There was one group project.
2 midterms, homework in section, super easy group presentation, final. Super easy class. No iClicker and Claudia tells you not to get the textbook. The worst part was the busy work in section.
She's honestly the sweetest professor ever. TBH taking her class her been really great for my mental health. She seems caring, unlike the cold way most professors seem to handle students in an attempt to appear "professional". She makes me want to attend her lectures, and the little things she does really just brightens up your day.
Tyler's lectures were amazing. Test averages are very high, and she wants it that way. You will only be tested from the summary slides. She also holds review sessions before each test. Attendance is optional, but her lectures are great. She wants students to do well. If you put in the tiniest amount of effort, you will get an A.
Claudia is very kind and easy to talk to. Her lectures are somewhat interesting and straight from the textbook. Before each exam, she will post a list of topics that you should know. Tests are on the easy side, like the kind you can study for the night before.
Whether you have taken the bio series or not, the course material is easy to understand and uncomplicated. Her lectures are fundamental (and a touch boring), but sections were fun! Tyler's assignments were simple and hands on. Take interest in the subjects, study a little, and this class will be a breeze for you. She really cares about her students
Definitely one of the best professors on campus! If you have the opportunity, take her ES100 class. She is so adorable and her class is fairly easy! The material and labs are very interesting. I definitely enjoyed this class :)
Tyler is so supportive and the material is really interesting, but you have probably already learned some of it in another class. Don't buy the textbook. She tests straight from the summery slides at the end of each lecture.
Claudia's the best. She's a sweet mother-like figure who's crazy passionate about nature & wants her students to succeed! She's all about being in the field, so we had a few sections on the beach. Super easy class, don't need the textbook, but go to lecture cuz it's interesting. Fun to talk with, she has office hours at Caje :)
Professor Tyler is probably one of the sweetest teachers I have ever had. She is such a kind person and truly cares about the success of her students! If you're struggling, she will gladly help you out. Great prof :)
SUPER easy. do the questions at the end of each section and you'll get an A on tests. section worksheets a little tough, but sections are hands on and pretty fun. plus, tyler is extremely nice and funny! doesn't take roll but you get direct test questions sometimes from lecture only
The class is fairly interesting and straightforward. 2 midterms and a final, that are easy to study for if you look at the lecture slides. The sections were also interesting, we did something different every week.
