This is SEVERAL years late, but he made THAT much of an impact on my life. Jeff is AMAZING. I even got the opportunity to be his research assistant and it was the MOST memorable experience of my college career. TAKE HIS CLASS. ANY CLASS. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT.
Excellent prof. Uses relatable jokes to keep the lectures interesting and gets straight to the point of each chapter. Very helpful and really wants you to do well in his class. Attendance isn't vital, but once you've been in his lecture, you'll always want to attend.
So good, hilarious and keeps the class interesting through even the dryest material!
Such a good prof! He makes it very interesting because he is just so passionate about the subject! Always a laugh
Hilarious!
AWESOMESAUCE!
This professor is a dedicated teacher who takes complex and challenging subject matter and makes it easy for anyone to understand! He is always willing to help students because he just truly enjoys teaching. Classes are more like theatrical performances with Jeff who is guaranteed to always have his signature cup of coffee in hand as his prop! :)
This professor is an amazing teacher. He's so enthusiastic about the subject matter that you can't help but let it rub off on you. I wouldn't sat he was easy, but I did do very well in his class because he is fair. His tests are not impossible like some teachers in his same field. Trick questions aren't his thing.
The funniest professor at UCSB by far. He makes you want to go to class even though he doesn't take roll. Makes things very easy to learn by describing them with funny stories.
Lectures were interesting although his quick speech was hard to keep up with when taking notes. 2 multiple choice tests were the only assignments but you had to get over the puzzling structure of the questions themselves before you could even answer them. Too many questions in ration to the time given to take the midterm.
Born to be a professor. He could have been teaching anything and I would have loved it. Just plain phenominal. I never wanted to miss a lecture. It's possible to get an A even if you bomb the midterm. He's really helpful, actually cares, and wants you to learn. Take a class with him before you graduate otherwise you've wasted your tuition.
Evolution of the Gene. Totally harsh tests. Multiple choice, all science questions based not off lectures but from AP Bio from high school. Great teacher, great lectures, but he needs to revoke my F and give me a better grade for what I learned and my participation, the midterm and final were bull.
Jeff is the coolest teacher I have had in my three years of being at UCSB. He is super funny and nice both inside the class and in office hours. The grading in the class sucked but that's the psych department's fault, not his. I would love to have another class with him. He actually made me want to show up for class. Jeff you're an awesome teacher.
Loved Jeff! The class was super difficult if you aren't a science person, but his classes were awesome. I always looked forward to them.
This professor typically teaches psychology, but taught this Anthro class. Absolutely loved Jeff! He is hilariously funny and made the content of the class easier to understand than if taught by someone else. The tests were SUPER difficult and wording was over the top, but overall Jeff was awesome. Always available via e-mail or in office hour
He was pretty cool. You should read the book and go to lecture because the powerpoint slides are very "bare-bones", and are not usually self-explanatory. Class is quite engaging though; he's pretty funny. Overall I liked the class. Tests were not that bad, but some questions got confusing because the wording could have been misinterpreted.
Neihaus is awesome!! He is extremely funny and very clear about the material. He repeats the more complicated concepts multiple times and truly enjoys teaching. One of the best professors I have had so far
Cool guy, makes and effort to build familiar relationship with students. Makes lots of jokes, but sometimes oversimplified examples distract from the material. 100% Powerpoint-related lectures
Neihaus was fun and cool...I def. enjoyed taking the class. The material was interesting and easy to grasp. I felt like I knew the material 100% but since some of the test questions came down to two answers, I found myself getting B's on the tests. I think if you really prepare yourself and see what you got wrong on the midterm, you can get an A.
Jeff is hilarious! Tests are pretty tricky, not your typical mutliple choice test, but anyone can get an A or B as long as they go to lecture and read the book.
Funny prof., straightforward tests, interesting lectures.
The best professor I have ever had/will ever had. You NEED to take this class, even if you're not a psych major. It's interesting and easy to grasp material but Niehaus makes it 200 times better. I always looked forward to this class - he's the coolest guy ever, I wish I could take it again!
um, jeff is the****. the class was pretty cool and he was really funny. i got an a but you have to read and go to lecture. but other than that he is hella helpful and whatnot. and yes, i said hella and im from norcal. :)
Jeff is a great professor. He's hilarious and you learn a lot from his class. His exams are a little challenging, but if you study and attend lectures you'll do fine.
