One of the most, if not the most difficult class for biopsych majors. Very interesting but he does not put ANY words on his powerpoint slides. While he does speak very clearly he uses lots of obscure vocabulary in his lectures. Also, you're at a huge disadvantage if you take this course before 168 or 169L -- take one of those first!
It's been a while since I took this couse, but I have to say it was the best class I have ever taken. Dr. Reese's course taught be more in one quarter than the first year in my graduate studies. If you plan to study Neuroscience or Neurobiology in grad school, take this course. It is extremely helpful and I still talk about it 9 years later.
Prof Reese is quite possibly the sexiest man to teach for the SB psych department. He's tough! Record the lectures, and listen to them. He's a bit verbose and many things will go way over your head at first, but you'll adapt to his style. The book isn't too helpful. office hours! intimidating at first--Just show him you've been listening.
This class is one of the hardest classes I've ever taken, but SOOO fascinating. If you are ok with 12-14 questions, ALL essay for the midterm & final, then STUDY HARD. Honestly, this class didn't kill me, but dang, it almost did. DEFINITELY RECORD the lectures; he is very clear and to the point in lecture. He speaks eloquently, and is dry but nice.
i love professor Reese! you learn so much in his class! if your main priority is getting the easy way out, then don't take his class, cuz there is no way that you can breeze it and expect even a B. if you want a challenge and quality learning, then this is the class for you. remember... what's hard to acheive is way more rewarding in the end!
Indeed his lectures were difficult to follow. However, it worked well for me to record them and listen to them again since he is very clear and rarely makes mistakes. He makes you study hard but you get alot of useful knowledge if you are up for the challenge. Unlike others in this forum I do recommend this class!

Very tough class. You have to study a lot! All quizzes are fill in or short answer. The lectures are long and very detailed. Bring a recorder to class. Hard class, but he does teach the material if you listen.
If i can rate in the negatives I would. The lab is very interesting and actually fun but the lecture sucks and the professor is horrible. I would never take his class again. He is boring and he mumbles.
