Talks way too quickly during lectures. Gives brief, if any response to any questions students ask. Problems covered in class are much easier than those in tests
She expects everyone fail in her class. Extremely hard I clicker ques. Difficult midterms. The averages of two midterms were around 65. No relationship between homework and midterms. Think about it before u take it.
Awful teacher, regardless of whether you have prior physics experience. The tests are extremely difficult and none of the homework's or lectures help you prepare for them. One long HW is due every week at midnight on Friday (for Tu/Thur class), takes several hours. Lectures are a waste of time. Lots of trick ?'s. A mean and an incompetent teacher.
worst professor ever
I was really disappointed by this teacher. Avoid her if you have no experience with physics. She assigns HW on topics we haven't covered yet so you are basically teaching yourself. She seems nice outside of class but is not very good at explaining concepts when asked. Tests were insanely difficult compared to practice problems and HW.
good luck, say bye to your grade if you had no prior physics experience
The only thing I learned from attending lecture is that she expects everyone to fail the class. She really enjoys it when most of the class get's the iclicker questions wrong, and doesn't do any teaching other than deriving useless formulas. Basically on your own
Bad lecturer. Not helpful during office hours. Does not reply to emails. Tests are hard. Did not put final test score or course average on gauchospace. If you take this class you are on your own. That said, if you work hard you can still get a good grade.
Doesn't teach at all. makes you watch online lectures of some other dude and then just makes you do random problems all class. tests are really tough
Homework is long and doesn't prepare you for her tests. All of the other online resources don't help to teach the material. Be ready to put in a lot of work outside of class if you want a good grade.
She doesn't prepare you for the exams at all, problem solving wise or conceptual wise. The lectures and the sections are all pointless, if you get her, you're on your own
Lots of great outside resources (panopto, extra credit homework problems, physics textbook, physics lab). Still a pretty damn hard class though!
I love her!!! she is always so nice and make physics really clear. she is helpful and we have lots of extra credit in our homework
HW is long & completely irrelevant to tests. Teacher does a poor job of preparing students for tests. Concepts are not taught clearly. A typical day in class consists of an endless string of iClicker questions, with little actual instruction in between. Gwinn does a poor job of motivating students and maintaining interest. Sorry if you get her.
horrible teacher. the fact is that she didnt teach, she used lecture slides, homework assignments, online lectures and basically every other aspect of the class that came from another professor. She should not be paid for what she does.
She assigns useless and tedious problems which do not help understanding the concepts. Her tests are very long. I am not interested in QM anymore.
Professor Gwinn is a fantastic lecturer and person. She is very energetic and enthusiastic while explaining concepts and being crystal clear. Homework assignments can be very tedious, but she is usually aware of this and lightens the load eventually. Class is difficult of course, its quantum mechanics! So it helps she is a great teacher.
I actually really liked this professor. I don't care too much for physics, but she kept the material as interesting as possible. Good demonstrations and good at keeping me awake (usually) early in the morning. Probably my favorite physics prof of the 1-5 series. Tests are WAY easier than Freedman/Stuarts. Overall, pretty good professor!
