ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Projects are very unclear and therefore take a long time. Exams are all essay. Class is a lot of work.
I spent way more time on the projects than studying for the midterm and final. Everything on the tests are straight from his lectures. If you dont have a good TA you will be so lost on Assignment 1 and 2 because Morgan wont help you with it.
summer school is already tough, not to mention his assignments are EXTREMELY LONG, and he never explains it during class. the class material isn't that hard he just expects u to know everything he talked about in class. the ta isn't helpful either. i wouldn't take him if i knew he was so hard.
he should be fired just like the rest of the economics faculty. BUT HE SHOULD GO FIRST!!!!!!
The amount of work that Morgan expects out of his students is grossly disproportionate to the amount of teaching that he does. The computer projects are rediculously long, as well are the exams, but at least he's enthusiastic about what he teaches. Honestly, I've had worse professors at UCSB.
try your best not to take a class w/ him. bad teacher who spits all over the place. he's a nice person but expects too much from us for his test. his test are from hell and so is assignment 2, trust me that anyone but morgan
what a waste of time. worst experience ever at UCSB. i'd rather take Crouch for the rest of my econ career than stay in this class with Morgan.
I don't understand how the university still didn't fire him. He is by far the worst teacher of all times. He doesn't have a clue about teaching. AVOID HIM and take the Nobel Prize winner Fynn Kydland's class.
He grades the project. And you will get unsatisfied grade if he was in a bad mood when he grades. I have no idea how this can happen, but this is true.
bad teacher
Terrible!!!!! Everything about him stinks. His teaching methods are drawn out and only someone with extreme knowledge in Econ would understand.
HORRIBLE TEACHER, thanks to TAs, I wasn't COMPLETELY LOST. Wasn't clear about what answers he was expecting on tests and didn't have an answer key afterward. lectures are long and not helpful at ALL. DON'T TAKE HIM IF POSSIBLE
This fat **** doesn't know how to teach. Sure he knows economics, but he doesn't know how to transfer knowledge to his students in a way that they will understand it effectively.
Morgan is a horrible teacher. He does know his stuff but I think he makes things more difficult than they need to be. He teaches like you have taken the class before. His TA should teach the class instead. Morgan needs to be fired.
Doug Morgan is a good teacher, who knows his stuff. The class is difficult, especially the tests. Anything that he briefly mentions in class is fair game on a test. Morgan is available for any questions you might have, take advantage of him.
tough course, lectures meant nothing, just go to office hours and get help from ta's.
bad teacher, knows what he's talking about but can't teach for a****.
Perhaps some of the raters were high when they wrote their review. Perhaps they are a bit slow; I do not know. What I do know, however, is that Professor Morgan is a terrible professor. Knowledgable, perhaps, but quite horrible at teaching. Avoid.
His lectures are hard to follow, but he's VERY HELPFUL in office hours. His class is hard, but he's a great teacher. He's also great for advice on school, personal problems, etc. Really friendly once you get to know him.
Difficult class, I would have failed without help from former TA's that gave review sessions. I learned everything from them.
I had no clue how to do computer projects, and learned everything from TA's
Bad lectures, didnt learn a single thing from him.TA does most of Morgan's work~!!!~
difficult difficult difficult
