The most inspirational professor I've had in my entire college career. He is funny, engaging and extremely knowledgeable in economy, political science, geography and history. In other words, he is a walking encyclopedia. Moreover, he genuinely cares about his students and is approachable during office hour. Definitely take a course with him.
Prof. Cohen never disappoints! This was one class that I was never bored in. He always explained current events using the theories and topics we were required to know for his class, so it was an engaging learning experience. Prof. Cohen is very fair when it comes to workload and exams. Best professor in the department, in my opinion.
An AMAZING professor (and apparently one of the forefathers of IPE??)!! He only has one or two slides per lecture and that's all you need. His lectures are clear, easy to follow, and overall interesting. He is also gives these really funny/adorable anecdotes mid-lecture. I love him AND this class!
One of my favorite professors I've ever had in both the PoliSci department and at UCSB as a whole. He starts lecture off by letting us ask him about anything going on in current events. He is extremely knowledgable and has so much experience in his field so it's such a great chance to hear a professionals insights. I've learned a lot from his class

Take this class! This has been by far the most interesting class i've taken at UCSB. Dr. Cohen is a great professor. He is always wiling to answer questions, is very intelligent, and makes his lectures easy to understand and interesting. I gained a lot from this class.
Such an incredibly knowledgeable man. You could ask him about any current event or topic in IPE and he will tell you everything there is to know about it. We are lucky to have him as a professor at UCSB. Definitely recommend this class.
EXCELLENT professor! Incredibly intelligent and knowledgeable. Knew everything there is to know about IPE- could ask him anything and he knew it off the top of his head. Funny and nice. Can tell he really cares about the class and making sure his students understand the material. Best professor I've had. UCSB is lucky to have him!
This is one of the greatest professors I have encountered at UCSB and I am a senior. I highly recommend taking his class and going to office hours to pick his brain. He is so intelligent and he also has some entertaining life stories. I wish I could have him as a professor again.
Love love Prof. Cohen! So knowledgable on IPE, and is great at making challenging topics clear for students! Go to lecture, pay close attention, and take close notes abc you will be fine for both tests and the paper! I do wish he taught other classes so I could take a class with him again.

One of the best, most knowledgable professors I have had the pleasure of taking! His current events discussions are extremely interesting, and he has the ability to make the most complicated topics and issues crystal clear. I would recommend this class to anyone!
cohen is an exceptional professor. go to lecture, pay attention to current events (they will appear on the midterm & final), and take good notes!! the readings help for section, so at least do some of them. as far as the TAs go, marcus is definitely the most critical when it comes to grading.
Prof. Cohen is awesome. As a senior, I thought this class would be difficult from what I'd heard, but it was very reasonable if not surprisingly easy. No joke, I could have done the midterm completely off lecture notes-GO TO CLASS. Reading is standard, but he wrote the book, which is always weird. Worthwhile class for sure.
Best professor ever! lectures are crystal clear, does a good explaining hard concepts. Very knowledgeable of the subject and other worldly things. Great sense of humor, which helps make class fun. Gives a five pg research paper which is very easy. Textbook is an easy read, the reader has some interesting articles. Take the class wont regret!

Very credentialed professor. His lectures can be pretty funny and also informative since he's knowledgeable about the history of IPE and current events. His criteria for grading are pretty tough, but it's not impossible to get a solid grade. Attending lecture is essential.
Cohen's lectures were very understandable and relevant. A lot of time devoted to current events which was interesting, but a little excessive. He was witty and very helpful in his office hours. Chili pepper worthy as well!

Best POLS professor at UCSB. He's passionate, clear and fascinating; much of your grade, however, will depend on your TA's grading standards. Professor Cohen at first appears intimidating due to his credentials but you'll soon see how laidback and hilarious he is. Definitely recommend him. Deserves a chili pepper in my book. :)
