Don't ask him to be on your dissertation committee. He'll forget to sign letters of recommendation again and again

There is absolutely no point in going to class. His lectures are really easy to understand (and boring), but it rarely relates to the almost impossible quizes. The TAs teach you everything you need to know. Just copy off of your smart friends during quizes and study for the final.

Just show up to class and do the homework, thats the key to Shapiro's class. He is helpful if you go see him in office hours, but during lecture he is quite boring. Definetly needs to make a boring subject a little more interesting.
